Alternatively a line will do it
Honestly my caffeine tolerance is getting to such a point that this will be the next logical solution
10mg of creatine on the regular is not great for your health. Also, the cost of your moonshine would be roughly the same as a Red Bull can + 5 mins or so of labour
For Joe average, 10mg per day is no issue vs punching back several red bulls a day.
The data shows 5mg daily through to 10mg isn't an issue and even much higher dosages are totally fine.
I'd argue Creatine being highly studied is way safer longer term vs the junk in energy drinks long term.
Sugar consumption is seeming like the new smoking. For a brain boost, after a big night out where I need to be in my game I'll knock back 15mg. Beautiful.
And yes I have full bloods done every yr, cac score every 5 yrs, colonoscopy every 5 yrs etc.
Most of the literature says a 3-5mg is optimal for maintenance.
No doubt the crap they put in energy drinks is worse than creatine, not to mention the sugar content
You voluntarily go for a colonscopy every 5 years? I guess everyone has their kink
@Headless: Yes … issues run in the family. And depending upon what someone is predisposed to, the 5 yr mark is about the sweet spot to pick up things.
Considering the costs of the procedure is only my health fund excess, the procedure itself is painless (knocked out) then I'm comfortable with the timing. In that same year I make sure I have any medical 'tune ups' done that trigger the health fund excess as I've already paid it.
Last procedure was Feb this yr which picked up a slow growing nasty that would eventually turn into a nasty tumor over time, exactly what previous fam members have had. The nasty was removed and the next day I was back running with zero discomfort or issue. No need for other interventions. For a $400 excess, I'll say money well spent.
I encourage others to go get it done once you hit 40 yrs. Bowel cancer can be a slow killer yet if found early has a sensational recovery rate.
@nonpop: thanks for the honest reply, and sorry for the health issues.
im due for a endoscopy and am silently dreading it
It’s a brain pick me up. You get the instant pick me up from the sweetness (and sugar if going the sugar version) and fizz. Then it’s mostly just the caffeine. I’d say there’s also the learned association once you have them, you get a little brain reward by seeing the packaging and the familiar taste.
Sometimes I just have a no-doz and a soda water to avoid the sugar/fake sugar. The no-doz seems to see me through longer.
Insane that $3 a can bought in bulk unrefridgerated from a supermarket is considered the normal price
They tell us they're not price gouging, and then they casually can take 50% off items and still make money.
Recently went to watch Transformers One, and there was 2 teenage boys who came into the cinema carry 2x4 packs of Red Bull.
Better than them walking in with 2x4 bags of coke
Sounds like a great time
I think I seen $5.92 per pack of 4 cans (250ml) in Victoria
Does anyone actually need these 'energy drinks'. Or is it a brain pick-me-up being looked for (excluding the alcohol mixer concept).
Homemade brew idea: (yeap wont be popular but may be someone will have a re-think of their energy drink needs)
Double shot espresso (or instant coffee) + 10mg Creatine mono + 33 grams whey protein powder (Ice Coffee flavoured or whatever flavour or plain) + 200ml water. Shake.
Go nuts and take a B12 tablet with it. Takes all of 1 minute to make. Low cost per serve. High quality.
That will give the brain a jolt (caffeine) + increased clarity (creatine) + stopping the 'crash' from the energy drink (protein).
Insulin stays nice and steady, protein to keep hunger away & repair the body.
Give it a crack.
