Print your own T Shirt design

I'm wanting to print one single t-shirt using my own design for a christmas present and get it delivered/picked up in Melbourne by Fri 21 December.

Anyone had any experience in doing this?
Any recommendations on who is good, and who to avoid?

Thanks

  • I am not at all knowledgeable in this area myself since they're normally so expensive just for recreational purposes (especially the delivery). But as I understand it what you want is any of the 100s of DTG (Direct-to-Garment) printing services that have popped up over the last 5 years, which apparently have a generally good reputation. The slower process of screen printing (the benchmark) for 1 shirt is apparently rare these days and if you have multiple colours or fine lines you would avoid it anyway. Apparently even heat transfers are a lot better than they were 5-10 years ago.

Again, I have no idea, but I would type "dtg t-shirt printing melbourne" into Google and shop around. But since it's printed in Australia expect to pay $30 (or more) for the luxury. Shipping can be anywhere from $10 to $15 to $crazy so ringing up about pick-up may be the best option for 1 shirt. Note that some of the on-line companies portray themselves as Australia-based but you will in-fact be waiting for delivery from overseas (which could be risky this time of year).

I used to make throwaway ones myself with the EPSON heat transfer packs but I don't even own an Inkjet anymore :)

    • Thanks for the info, I'll look into it and see what I can find.

  • I have not ordered a tee shirt from bigW but have ordered canvas prints and they are better quality than a cheaper online alternative. I don't know where they are printed but it is not "in store". You can order over the web and pick up from local store. The tee shirts are discount price just now.
