This might be useful for people who already have a hotmail.com or outlook.com address, as I do for receiving those mailings from merchants instead of distracting me in my work mailbox. You can add aliases to your mail address, e.g. if you have hotmail.com you can add outlook.com. live.com.au is offered but not live.com. Since I like my addresses short, I looked for tips for how to trick the system to offer me live.com. The clue was here.
Following the tip, I changed the language but that alone didn't work. I then changed my location to a European country where live.com.<country> is not available and voila I was offered live.com as a domain. I added the alias, received email confirmation in the other language, and then changed back to English and Australia.
PS: It helps if you can read the other language to know where to click. Or you could memorise the positions of the correct choices in the respective menus.
how about install/go to some free vpn that tricks the server to think you are in usa.. :)
