  • That looks like a good price, but if you already have a WiFi 5 AP and it is for home-use, it might not give you a performance boost.

Every thing I read about WiFi 6 is that the main advantage is that it allows more users per AP in a “device-dense” environment. Unless you have a huge number of devices you might not notice an improvement in performance from WiFi 5. This is from Intel:

……..a Wi-Fi 6 upgrade can provide the following advantages for a dense enterprise wireless local area network (WLAN):

    • The ability to increase the number of users and devices per access point (AP), reducing deployment costs
    • Enhanced support for an increasing number of devices with existing deployment densities
    • Improved high-density performance with less interference, fewer dropped connections and more efficient packet transmission
    • Faster data throughput
    • problem is current wifi 5 can only ping one or 2 devices at once so if you have a few smart devices around the home you are already at 15ish devices (tv, ps5, lights, devices etc) so wifi 5 can be saturated FAST. wifi 6 will give you the same experience that wifi 5 first did prior to us having so many smart devices around the home

We've done casual testing with friends years back when wifi6 home routers hit the market. For single client testing we were seeing around a gig throughput at close range. This would drop a lot at distance or with concrete walls, but it was a lot faster than what we were seeing with Wifi5 single client (about half).

Single client throughput performance isn't the be all and end all, and it doesn't rate that highly in my list of factors, but there was definitely a difference.

It doesn't look like v2 on the pics unless they haven't updated. This is v2. I have the eap673 and it's tiny in comparison to the eap670 v1.

I called today and they said it should be v2.

      • Let us know after you receive it.

I am in market for EAP670 and saw this deal and avoided it because the listed specs show the v1 product (based on product dimension, v1 is HUGE).

EAP673 is readily available in Australia, but I have not found any retailers listing EAP670v2, with the precise specs that show it is the much more compact version.

    These are great.
I manage to get 800mbs on my iphone 15pro on speed tests on a NBN 1000/50 plan.
I have 2 of these set up, avg of 90 devices connected at a time (lots of IoT stuff).
Never misses a beat. The big difference with wifi 6 is as you add more devices you don’t see such a slow down in speed (if the client is also wifi6).

  • Tplink product page shows v2 being the thicker design.

    • v2 is the more compact design (30 something mm thick).

      v1 is a chonker at 24mm across, 64mm thick.

Ordered these yesterday, they arrived this morning and I have just installed them now.
Install of the ceiling mounts and setup took about 30 mins in total with the Omada software controller.
They were replacing a previous OzB special, 2 of Linksys LAPAC1750C that have served me well for the past 3.5 years.

I usually setup UniFi for my friends and business clients but I am thus far impressed with the TP-Link Omada range and have been hearing and reading positive things about it for a while now.

I received V2's if thats of any assistance.

These bad boys should tide me over until I spot a wifi7 WAP deal on here in a few years.

I'm on 1000/50 and these have given me a healthy speed boost that will assist in my bargain hunting and e-thugging.

    880/46.8 on my ip15pm vs 400-450 previously

    • Awesome to hear you had a good experience and confirmed v2 👍

    • Great deal for a v2
