9x Qantas Points Per $1 Spent @ Qantas Hotels

720

Book by 27 Oct 2024 for travel until 26 Oct 2025.

If you hold Points Club or Points Club Plus status you'll earn 11.25x or 13.5x points per dollar spent, respectively.

As always, compare prices across multiple sites because Qantas Hotels may be more expensive for your particular booking.

Qantas Frequent Flyer members will earn 9 Qantas Points per A$1 value on all hotels booked through qantas.com/hotels, except Classic Hotel Rewards, Airbnb, and holiday packages booked through qantas.com/holidays, from 12:01am (AEDT) 21 October 2024 until 11:59pm (AEDT) 27 October 2024 for travel until 26 October 2025. Bookings made for Accor hotel offers during the campaign period will not earn triple points; however they will earn 9 Qantas Points per A$1 value instead of the standard 4 Qantas Points. Points Club members will earn 25% more Qantas Points, and Points Club Plus members will earn 50% more Qantas Points. Offer excludes Holiday Packages, Airbnb, Qantas Entertainment and Qantas Tours. Qantas Points will not be earned on cancelled or refunded bookings. Qantas Points cannot be split between two or more members occupying the same room. To earn Qantas Points, quote your Qantas Frequent Flyer membership number when booking. Members will not be able to redeem points for, or earn points on additional charges paid to the accommodation provider for extras (including cots, breakfasts and other incidentals) on check-in or check-out (as applicable). Qantas Points will be credited to your account within 6 weeks of hotel check-out.

  • Nice, so this is basically free money/profit right? Do they have a cap to how much $ they will give you?

not even close. Qantas Hotels premium pricing means you are usually lucky if you break even on the extra cost with the points.

This isn’t always true. I’ve found hotels that are cheaper than the discounted rates even offered direct via hotels. I use it a couple of times per year vs other sites

        • Hotel Direct prices are rarely the cheapest. I am yet to find a single booking where Qantas is cheaper and I always check. Occasionally they are equal cheapest, usually a little to a lot higher.

@gromit: I thought the same, but I found a hotel last week where Qantas was cheaper than other search engines and the hotel directly (Hawaii). So it can happen.

            • @financialminimalism: would love it to happen to me :-(. I keep checking but the only way thus far I have made it worthwhile is with the hotel vouchers and bonus points. Even with this bonus period I went through all my bookings in AU, NZ, USA and Japan in the coming 6 months and none of them were worth switching to booking through Qantas.

If you value at 1c, it's effectively 9% cashback, which you can easily get at Booking.com or expedia on a normal day.
If you value at 1.5c and have Points Club Plus and use the $50 hotels voucher, it is more lucrative.

  • On a side note - I remember Qantas giving a $30 hotel voucher if you booked through them. Has this been discontinued?

    • I think they were giving everyone $30 before for the flight cancellation debacle as long as you were a member even if you didn't book flights

      • I don't recall seeing this - has anyone seen them or know how to access it? (or maybe they have expired?)

I had $50 and $100 vouchers. used them last year, I "think" they came from points club or points club plus. When you have them they are visible in your account on the points club page.

        • this was like during the covid times

          I sold mine

It was great booking a few nights in Cambodia for $2 each.

Thanks. Cancelled a booking.com reservation and changed to Qantas hotels. Same price too!

  • anything stopping you from cancelling a refundable booking with qantas and rebooking it?

  • I would check your existing bookings can be cancelled for free (mine were), then go ahead and rebook (check the dates still available first)

  • Anyone know if you make a booking with only the 20% deposit then call them to change the payment method for the balance later do you still get the points? I'm waiting on a new credit card to arrive and won't get it before Sunday, but want as much of the cost to go on it as possible to meet the spend for bonus points (also will need them to process the remaining payment earlier not in Feb when it has to be paid)
