Acer ConcerptD 3 16" WUXGA Laptop

Hi the tightest community on the continent!

Was hoping to get opinions with this 16" from Kogan. Priced at $1100.

Coming from an Intel 16" Mac, looking to do office/design work and create newsletters/content. Understand it's an aging model but keen to her your thoughts on how this might compare against a similar laptop e.g. Mac 16", Vivabook, MSI Modern 15", and LG Gram.

There're scant reviews so keen to hear everyone's thoughts.

but keen to her your thoughts on how this might compare against a similar laptop e.g. Mac 16", Vivabook, MSI Modern, Acer Go and LG Gram.

Yeah some of those aren't $1100 bucks tho so they aren't apples to apples

    Some have dGPUs, some don't

Links? Need the specs and specific models for an actual comparison

    We need more info OP

    • Haha good, username! I'm looking for 16GB RAM, at least 256GB HD but portability and ease of editing without a Wacom Tablet is important as well. Aiming to keep it for the next 5/6 years if that helps.

Based on the specs for the Acer and LG Gram (link above) it's similar price, LG Gram looks more portable but the Acer looks more convenient for the tablet functionality hence the difficulty in choosing

  • Coming from a Mac to an Acer (🤮) I feel you will be quite disappointed.

    • :D Mac has definitely been an adventure but in what circumstance - software/construction? I'd agree support off the bat though!

      • I'm not even a Mac lover, but they are actually built properly. Acer is like something you get at the $2 shop.

First of all, it's ConceptD, not ConcerptD. Well, Kogan product editors…

Secondly, the product is about 3 year old. Would you pay almost $1.1k on a 3 year old laptop that's not even top spec back then? That's MacBook depreciation without the substance. An IdeaPad 2-in-1 at $1,149 would be a much performant laptop, although build quality wise I'll probably pick the LG Gram.

  • Thanks everyone! I'll take Scotty's opinion on this given the feedback from all and yeah I should have sanity checked :D

  • Hi Guys, Good to read your solid advice here. Have been looking for a notebook for occasional travel and as Scotty says , it is amazing how old some of the laptops are on sale especially at the big department stores - and they are still asking near a current model in price. I was thinking of of one of the Acer Swift Go with Oled screen.

Questions is are the Acer Swifts that bad? I keep on checking Lenova or Dell for similar product ut a Acers Swift Go with Ultra 125H, 16gb, 512gb and 2880 x1800 oled is $998 at HN and about 50% more with Lenova or Dell.
