Airbnb Gift Cards and Part Now, Part Later

Just making sure that if I buy a bunch of gift cards, I will be able to use them to pay the remainder of a booking on Airbnb.

I have a 5k booking that we have paid about 1k on, and the rest is due in a month.

In the Airbnb help it says I can change the payment method for the remainder to the gift card balance. But when my sister goes into the app, she can't change it to that method (can't even see the option), perhaps simply because there are no gift cards applied at the moment?

Has anyone paid the remainder of a booking with discounted cards and can confirm it will be fine, before I buy $4k worth?

I have used discounted cards before, but only for the total of a fully delayed payment, not for the balance of a payment.

      I did ask them on the chat and they said to try on a desktop browser instead of the app. Didn't help obviously.

      Then my sister contacted them and said they didn't really answer the question.

      I'm on again now so hopefully third time lucky.

      Their hosting support is usually pretty good but for this they have been a bit vague..

    Buy a $10 gift card and see for yourself if it works.

      I was hoping someone here had some experience with it because in the past they have had weird policies about changing payment methods, and also using different payment methods for one payment (which I think they have largely fixed but I don't know for sure).

    You will need to add your gift card to your account and then the credit amount will be deducted from the total payment.

    Say $4k and you have $3k credit, when you pay now, it will deduct $3k and $1k outstanding.

    Works fine, add them all to your account then go into all the bookings you’ve made and just pay off the balance from the credit

    Should be able to do it.

    sorry to hijack but I use Entertainment Book for 4% off GC but they charge a card fee so I think the savings for me is ~2.8% roughly.

    Anyone got better promo?

      Thanks for the info, I'm confident it will work. Their system used to have some weird idiosyncrasies but that seems to be sorted now.

      You could try AGL rewards, or you could try Macquarie Marketplace, just requires a free account.

        just applied the credit. There is a small button you have to select when you go to "pay now" but GCs will work.

      I use AGL rewards because I buy them with my churner card to help meet the min spend. I am not with AGL but my account still works.
      Macquarie Marketplace with a free Macquarie account.
      Cash rewards as below, but 4% vs 5% and also you have to wait. It would be better to use Macquarie instead.

    Cash rewards has %4 cashback on Airbnb gc currently.
