  • The only negative is that it doesn't support cloud saves.

It doesn't play well with ultrawide resolutions, either.

        Worked fine for me

      • +1

Reports as fine on PCGamingWiki. Might benefit from some of the fixes there regarding FOV.

Gog. $4.09. Supports cloud saves. 5c Cloud Save Tax

Best soundtrack, I still listen to some songs from this game. Shame it didn't have a sequel.

The best part is the chinese swearing.

Looks playable on the Steam Deck as well. Thanks OP

    • +1

Can confirm it is playable. Have been playing this on Steam Deck for ages.

  • The gameplay still holds up today!

"You're like a pork bun without pork!"

  • Great game! Great price!

Given the amount of universal love this game gets to this day it’s almost a crime there isn’t a sequel.

  • Such a great game! Thanks OP

  • +4

Damn, Steam missed opportunity to price it at $4.44. Sei laa!

    • +1

Haha i guess they wanted to go sei ling in the harbour instead

  • +1

One of the best games I’ve played!

  • +2

One of the best martial arts games.

GTA meets a Bruce Lee film.

    Excellent story and fighting mechanics.

  • bought, thanks for the post.

i have the original game but tempted to buy this for the upgrades

    • +1

Do it… costs less than a shitty takeaway coffee

      • true. and im planning on getting a Deck soon and i checked the original version doesnt seem to be verified

  • +1

It had 88 likes, I had to buy it.

  • I've never played this game. Does it hold up or is it more of a nostalgia thing?

    • +3

Stands up still for sure. One of my all time fav games.

      • I bought the game tonight to give it a try. I couldn't get it to work with my PS5 controller. It would work, then stop, I hit ESC, then it worked for a few seconds. I gave up and got a refund.

From what little I saw the game looks very impressive. Given it's age even more so.

        • +1

Ah thats a shame. Sorry to hear it. Im playing with mouse and keyboard.

  • +2

Easily a top 100 game of all time. I have always wanted to play a sequel.

I love the story, Bruce Lee / Warrior style scrapping, romance options, sexy cars to GTA, ultra fkg violence, and (jokes) all the pork guys running around

It always kinda reminded me of a skyrim/bioware “adjacent” action rpg with much more mature themes, and with lambos and guns. And of course the setting - hong kong is a gddamn badass location.

Hell, because of this deal and helpful comments i bought the GOG version just to have a DRM free version. Already own it on steam

Is the DE worth if if you have the non-DE edition?

    • +2

My thoughts exactly… a few years ago when the DE came out for the consoles I was reading up on it and it was plainly not worth it because the OG PC version was superior…

Now with the DE on the PC, I dunno anymore. Plus I don't actually have the DLC and am now thinking I need a replay of this gem.

If anyone can chime in, @bdl and I would be grateful

      • Chimed in below. And p.s. yeah, i agree, the DLC thing matters. My original version didnt have the DLC, and i always wanted that extra story content. So now I’m set to replay it with the additional storyline!

    • +2

I’d say yes worth it. Because: Back in the day, i finished the original on PC and then a few months later i read that DE had a much more populated hong kong. Many more NPCs etc.

Now if you ever been to Hong Kong or seen movies, youll know that the place is crowded as fk in real life. You cant walk the street without bumping into hundreds of people. The original game was sparse, i loved the original to bits but it always felt too sparse to me. The original captured everything about hong kong except the maxxed out population- so I’m looking forward to a more realistic hong kong in the DE.

So to me… Just for that immersion alone. I decided to get DE thru this deal even though I own the original. I mean for me $4 is worth it personally. I just dropped $15 on the soft drink deal and they wont last as long as this game will, haha

      • +2

$15 softdrink < $4 Pork Bun from Sleeping Dogs :)

        • Lmao yes 100%

        • +1

Started playing DE on GOG. So not only are there 24 DLC’s worth of new missions I’ve never seen before, there are new cars, non undercover missions, races and character tribute outfits (with meaningful traits) that I’ve never seen in the original. 100 recommended. I’m having a blast.

  • Great game! I enjoyed this way more than the single player campaign in GTA V. Price is worth it just for the melee combat mechanics alone. After playing Sleeping Dogs, GTA V felt like a bit of a letdown considering it was released a year after this. It's a hidden gem that seemed to have fallen under the radar.

    • True! GTA V was good, very good. But was inferior to the pure action and combat of Sleeping Dogs.
