Wise card balance question

So I got myself a wise card to use for my future trip overseas. Added funds and days later used an ATM to check the balance to activate/verify the card. The balance on my wise app is as it should be but the balance from the ATM is slightly lower. No ATM fees noted.
I’ve searched their site and it has this stated:

“Checking your balance

The best way to check your balance is on the Wise app or website.

You can check your balance at ATMs as well, but they don't always give you accurate information. ”

Has anyone experienced this? I thought both would be the same unless there is amount pending?

  • Could it have been displaying what the ATM could distribute?

For example if your balance was $220 but the ATM could only give out $50 notes the balance might read $200 as it can’t give you the extra $20.

No idea why it wouldn’t be the same. I always just use the wise app.

  • How much difference are we talking about.

    • Funds of $1010.00 but ATM says $1006.91 =\

      • Is it different currency? Or all AUD?

I've used Wise last month in Europe without problems. When needed deposited money using PayID - took 1-2 min to be available into account and ready to use.

  • odd, the ATM is only going to display what it receives back from them.

  • Maybe it's pre-empted the $3.69 fee that they're going to charge.

    • No fee seen yet. Hopefully no fee and the app is more accurate for some weird reason.
