Leaptel nbn Question

Anyone have any experience comparing Leaptel with Dodo or Tangerine?

Thinking of jumping to the Leaptel 100/20 for $75/m. Dodo and Tangerine are offering about $64/m.

Mod: Edited. Use Leaptel referral program.

Can't say I've directly compared them with Dodo or Tangerine but I was previously with Leaptel through an Opticomm network and thought they were great. It's been years since I was with Dodo (ADSL days) and I would never go with them again, was barely better than dial-up.

Currently with Launtel and absolutely love them. They remind me of the good old days on Internode.

    YMMV.

    • Thanks. Might jump to Launtel if Leaptel gives me any issues. I've only heard good things about Launtel. Though I was with ABB during for a while because of all the praise it was getting, but seems like I had more dropouts/interruptions with ABB compared to what I'm using now which is AGL.

Honestly you're probably going to get similar performance on Leap- / Laun- -tel. These days I think it's more about your local connection infrastructure (FTTN/FTTC/HFC/FTTP) and then your service area / capacity. That's when it might start coming down to which provider has purchased enough capacity to properly service all their customers, and my experience says Leap/Laun are great in that regard.

Other than that you're going to have minor up/down issues with every provider as they deal with internal system hiccups but it'll be pretty similar performance from one to another. Price and customer service when things do go wrong.

Just moved from dodo to leaptel, so far so good. speeds seem better with leaptel and no drop outs.

Use the referral system for $50 off which I did.

    • Why did you move from dodo? To get a better deal, or were you having issues?

Was having drop outs and slow speeds.

Currently with leaptel , I can't really compare to the others you've mentioned . Experience has been okay with the occasional interruption which was / is frustrating. I'm sure I need better signal in the house so I'm going mesh with Eero modems as it's impeding our service .

Have been with Leaptel for around 12 months, great service. My discounted period is about to expire and they've offered a loyalty bonus, so I'll be sticking with them again.

    • How much is the loyalty bonus?

    Its the NBN NBN.

The RSPs are just RSPs. Retail Service Providers.

The Kellogg's Rice Bubbles are the same whether you buy them from Coles or Woolworths.

Yeah that's not how it works.
NBN is just transit to the ISP's network. Once your data hits the ISP's network, speed and latency are affected by how good the ISP's network is.

  • Leaptel and Tangerine are not much diff ( i am on fttn), however, be aware of billing calculation on Tangerine is nightmare and complicated.

Recently switched to Leaptel 1000/50 plan, speeds as advertised and no drop-outs yet. Australian customer service which dealt with a question I had quickly and on a Sunday which was a big plus.

Pretty satisfied so far and would be comfortable recommending.

  • I've found the customer service with Leaptel to be outstanding. Upcoming maintenance: receive advanced warning. Possible local outage: receive notice. Got a tricky technical question: raise a support case, they're extremely responsive.

  • I used to have LEaptel 100 one, it was good.
Btw, check More telecom if you are a CBA customer, it is discounted and I only pay $69 for 250/25 plan.

  • Moved to Leaptel a few weeks back. Was an Internode customer for almost 20 years. Hands down better. Rock solid speeds, local support and great network. It was my choice after researching the current ISP landscape.

  • Leaptel has been excellent for me (FTTP). Always get slightly higher than advertised speeds on the opticomm network.

  • Been with Leaptel for a year now , very reliable and rock solid speed , great NBN provider.

  • Just did FTTP upgrade. Been with TPG for a decade and thinking of switching to Leaptel to save.

Is the process of reconfiguring the PPPOe in the router settings easy?

    • Can't really tell you, my (BYO) router was set up with DHCP so I really didn't need to change any settings in my router. All I needed to do for the switch is to tell Leaptel to connect my internet into an unused UNI-D port on my NBN box. Then once I got a notification from Leaptel that my internet has been connected, I just had to replug my router into that UNI-D port.

I believe the only difference for PPPOe is that you have to enter the username and password (which they usually provide in the connection confirmation email on the day) in your router settings page/app?
