Hi, Does this robot has hair tangled problem? I been thinking to buy the master one due to this.

      • +1

Reviews do indicate that hair does get tangled in the roller underneath. Probably means you'll be pulling it out fairly often if you have people malting.

        • -2

          In a caramel malt milkshake?

      • Me too. I'd love a cheaper option but that's the only one I've seen that refers to this specifically

    • lodge a return

    • Any good?
Doesn't seem to have self emtpying/self cleaning?
      And only 5000 pa suction?

    • Buy this one, and return it to Amazon for a refund

  • argggg just bought from Amazon few days ago for $1089 :(

  • +1

Ah change of mind policy is allowed with 7 dollar drop off charge

    Well worth it

  • +1

Have one of these, can confirm that it's great.

  • Are they the same model?

    • +2

i checked the one i got from Amazon:
      Amazon:
      Model: QX0PEA
      Product ID - QR02-03

      Then Costco has:
      Model Number: RR-QR02-03-WHT

Well i just placed an order on Costco. Will see if its the same when it arrives

      • you gonna keep both ?

        • nope. i received it today and confirmed they are the same model with the one from Amazon

  • +2

Does anyone know if this has camera on it? The missus is a little concerned about privacy security especially after recent news about Ecovacs.

    • +1

      no camera

    • -1

It's not really "hacking" when all they did was type in your password because you use the same one for everything - that's how they were "hacked" in the Ecovacs cases in the US.

ABC went to a cybersecurity expert who has written some code to actually hack it, but only when you're in bluetooth range. This has since been patched.

Roborock doesn't appear to have any cyber vulnerablities associated with it.

    Any deal for MaxV variant?

    • +1

Got the MaxV for $1465 from Harvey's last week, which beat Amazon's prime day deal of $1599 (Harvey's sticker price was $1599), what a great unit, so many options, easy to use app, both mop and vacuum functions are very impressive, if you can push your budget to $1500 (discounted price) there's some good units out there that perform very well, check out just a dad on YouTube, buys all his own machines and has great videos on all things vacuum

    • I must say I was a little disappointed with the object avoidance on my maxV. We have dining chairs that have tube that runs along the ground on 2 sides and it can't 'see' them so if we don't put them up can spend 10 mins navigating through them. Love the unit in every other aspect but may have just got the non maxV model instead as object avoidance was high up on my list for these specific chairs.
      Coming from the original Xiaomi

      • If you haven't done it already, update the firmware. It improves the object avoidance a lot.

  • is this any good? there are so many variant and I can't even google them as some of it has max/pro/q at the end…

    • +2

It's amazing. This is the original Q Revo. I believe the newer versions have higher suction / hot water mob wash / retractable arm for mobbing edges. Whether that's worth a few hundred bucks more is up to you.

      • I read object avoidance is not that great. True?

        • The reviews that I watched indicated that object avoidance for the Q Revo is as good or better than some of the other brands at this price point.

        • Not great comparison to higher end Q Revo and other models because it lacks a front facing camera that is used for this purpose. On par or better than other vacuums at this price point.

      • And lift mop higher when travelling onto the rug from hardlfoor.
It’s why I’m waiting for a good deal on the Q revo maxV, hopefully black Friday sales.
But at this price it is tempting to not wait.

  • +1

    How about cat hair?

    • that's exactly what I am about to ask. summer is around the corner and my cat's hair is starting to get all around the place now

    • +1

Probably wait for Q Revo Master which has zero hair tangled problem.

    • +1

      I have a golden retriever.
Both me and my partner have long hair as well.

Hair does get tangled on the brush, as with any other vacuums.

But doesn't seem to affect auto-emptying, working great for about a year.

      • -1

what happens after one year? Lol

  • +1

Wait for black Friday deals its only few weeks away.

    • +2

I'll wait for Black Friday deals, but dunno how many times I've waited for a deal on Black Friday and been very disappointed when it is the same discounted price they advertised earlier in the year. I'll tell you right now, MaxV is gonna be 1.6k and the Q Revo will be 1.1k like they did 1 week ago.

I hope I'm wrong because I want the MaxV

I price-matched this robot vacuum at JB Hi-Fi for $1169 and picked it up last week. However, JB mistakenly gave me the Qrevo S model instead of the one advertised.
In my experience, this robot performs excellently on hard floor surfaces. However, my unit is primarily carpeted, and I've noticed it struggles to pick up long human hair effectively.

After researching on Reddit, I found several posts suggesting swapping the default rubber brush with the Q5 bristle brush for improved hair pickup performance. I've ordered this replacement brush, cant wait to test it out.

    • is the Qrevo S a slightly superior version?

      • Yes, its like an updated version with the main difference being slightly higher suction but dust bin is smaller which some people may not like.

        • And I think the dock takes up less room.

  • +2

Feels kinda bad knowing the Chinese roborock models are half the price of sale prices here and have better specs :/

    • but then do they do region lock?

      • +1

yep, prevent you from connecting your machine to your home wifi. and no international warranty which is a big risk.

  • +1

If you're looking for original Roborock replacement parts, it is discounted on TGG Commercial:

    • Roborock Disposable Dust Bags 3 Pack - $18 (RRP $39)
    • Roborock Rotating Mop Cloth 4 Pack - $17 (RRP $39)
    • Roborock Rubber Main Brush Red - $20 (RRP $49)
    • Roborock Washable Filter White 2 Pack - $18 (RRP $39)
    • Roborock Floor Cleaner Fluid 480ml - $20 (RRP $39)
    • much much cheaper on aliexpress

  • Apparently this has 5.5kPa suction power which is similar with other lower end branded ones. Is that right? Is 5.5kPa okay for carpet?

  • anyone using one of these on hardwood floors who can vouch for these?
I have seen some damage they can do on reddit, which is very costly.

  • +1

Bought this for $1600 at JB when it first came out, worth every dollar. $1000 is a steal

    • Did you have any wifi issues? We had to return a Roborock to Amazon last week as it refused to connect to our wifi.

  • I have never owned a robotic vacuum. I only have tiled and laminate floors. How 'clean' do they clean compared to a manual steam mop?
Any benefit on a higher speck model for hard floors?

    • Main differences:

Better Suction (5500 Pa vs 7000 Pa).

RBG Camera, which in theory means better object detection and avoidance but struggles on carpets still with small objects like a sock or cables (does well on hard floors). It also takes photos of any objects in the way and lets you view the camera (but can be turned off).

The mops are able to extend to reach edges more easily while the q revo does not extend.

When it cleans the mops and drains them, it uses higher heat to do it. This can be better and can mean deeper cleaning.

Me personally, I'm buying the MaxV over this for the last 2 features. RBG Camera would have been one, if the company didn't mess it up.

However, its gonna depend on the price, I wouldn't pay too much more over the Q Revo.

  • What’s the warranty when buying from Costo ?
Roborock has 2 years .. but what after that ?

    • ACL

  • thinking about buying the narwal freo z instead but twice the price
    worth it?

    • I can only base this on reviews online as it is pretty new.
The vast majority of reviews on YT for this one is sponsored trash that doesn't do any real testing, just happy that they got a free vacuum. However, there are couple decent reviews.

      What I gathered:

Mopping performance = really damn good maybe 2nd behind Eufy 1s Pro.

Navigation = the best on the market right now.

Carpet performance = average at best, if not subpar.

I've also seen some people say it has issues mapping their house, but I imagine that can be fixed via software update.

Overall, if you really care about mopping performance, get the Eufy 1s Pro via Good Guys commercial website for like $1.9k instead. It also has one of the best Obstacle Avoidance systems as well on the market.

If you have a lot of carpet in your house, I'd just avoid getting both and saving some money. I believe Eufy 1s Pro had one of the worst scores in Vacuum wars for carpet performance. I imagine Freo Z will also get a low score as it's performance on carpet was similar to Freo X, which had a well below average score on carpets.

Also for me personally. Narwal is still a relatively new company, you don't know how good/bad their warranty is and parts will not be readily available in 2-3 years time like Roborock or Dreame parts would be.

Main issue for Revo series is the poor navigation on carpet on small and low objects, the performance itself is typically pretty good.

      • So based on 75 carpet and two cats on which robo vacuum is recommended?

        • +2

Ok, so a lot of carpet and a lot of hair. I've been mainly looking at just general carpet performance as I'm probably 80-85% carpet house and don't have any cats or dogs.

If you want the short answer: Look at mainly Dreame X40 Ultra but Q Revo VMax, Q Revo Master is great as well.

Funny enough, I think the Roomba is pretty good with animal hair but it lacks so many features that it isn't worth it.

I'd say Dreame x40 Ultra is a great option, there is even a TriCut Brush (extra cost), which makes it so any long hair will be cut and not get tangled in the brush. It has good object avoidance, it has good suction power, it has good navigation.

You can get it for sub 2k from Good Guys commercial, but I'd personally wait for Black Friday. Also, X50 got released in China and it may be released in Australia Q1 or Q2 2025. However, I imagine the price being around 3k AUD on release or close to it.

The main issue I've seen is Dreame keeps making updates that negatively affect the vacuum before fixing it in the next update and I've seen people say sometimes the edge of their carpets are a little bit wet because the vacuum doesn't stop, lift up and then go on the carpet. However, on the app you can make it so it vacuums carpet only first, then mops afterwards.

Dreame L10s Pro Ultra Heat is much cheaper and really good value as well, should also do a decent job. Currently 1.4k on Good Guys commercial website.

I'd still recommend the X40 Ultra over it for your needs though.

Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra is also pretty good for your needs as its carpet performance is pretty good, but it has the inferior mop design that is now outdated, it is rarely on sale and way too overpriced for what it is today.

Roborock Q Revo series so I'd personally say Q Revo MaxV and Q Revo Master both do a good job on carpets and pet hair. Q Revo Master just recently got released in Australia, so price is high but maybe it becomes close to 2k around Christmas time. The Q Revo MaxV was discounted to 1.6k, but I saw some guy get it for 1.4k (with 5 years Good Guys Gold service), so I imagine it being a lower price before the end of the year as well. The main negative about these ones is that the object avoidance on carpet for small and low objects is fairly poor but just make sure there isn't anything in its way before a clean up and you'll be fine.

Overall, I'd still say Dreame X40 Ultra is probably the best option if cat hair is a huge issue for you, but if it isn't a major issue I'd go with the Q Revo series

  • Will this work without the rubber brush? Floors anre all hard and all I need is suction. Don’t want to deal with potential scratches or tangled hair.
