Hi brains trust. Have a 7800X3D 4070Ti super Techfast PC on order mainly for son. He has plans to live stream and record his game play on
pre-mentioned PC. Do I need to install a capture card? Understand I need some software…What software do I need which is easy and capable for a learner. Also free would be good😳 as I am an OzBarginer.

He may want to stream a console in the future and yeah a capture card will let him make a stream like the pros. Cross that bridge when you come to it, you don't need a capture card to stream from the same computer you are gaming on.
Run OBS on second screen which captures the first screen or use the built in Nvidia Shadowplay. Streaming from the same machine as they are gaming on will eat some resources though.

Don't need a capture card but depends on what he's streaming and what he's running ie. overlays and graphics
