[Open Box] Apple Airpods Pro 2 (Lightning) "Brand New Never Used" $199 + $9.90 Delivery @ Macfixit

380

In before "waiting for USB-C version", but if delivered in the condition promised, this is a fantastic price. Others may chime in, but in my experience, Macfixit has always been reputable and reliable, but no experience with products of this type as far as open box deals.

I do own a pair of Airpods Pro 2 (Lightning) and love them and use them daily, would highly recommend if you like in-ear and are in the ecosystem.

EDIT: From Macfixit's promo email - "All our brand new open box AirPods come with a one-year warranty. They have never been used; however, they do not come in their original packaging and do not include a charging cable. Rest assured, they are genuine products and Australian stock."

Also available - Airpods 2nd Generation, Open Box for $99: https://www.macfixit.com.au/products/airpods-2nd-gen-brand-n…

Nice price but caveat "*Charging Cable and Ear-tips not included. Available to purchase separately."

I couldn't see that on the listing page, but from their email:

"All our brand new open box AirPods come with a one-year warranty. They have never been used; however, they do not come in their original packaging and do not include a charging cable. Rest assured, they are genuine products and Australian stock."

yeah would be a bit weird to come with nothing at all, as you say, even just the default mediums. Still, cracking price and awesome find!

        • Its probably easier to say it includes no ear tips. It will be a nice surprise when a medium ear tip shows up.

Otherwise you will get people complaining this is the wrong size ear tip, its not a medium ear tip. The ear tip hurts, and so on and so forth.

  • Purchased but are ear tips really not included?

Dangerous assumption, but I would imagine it comes with a pair of default Medium tips on the buds, but no other sizes.

      • That’s ok. I can handle that. I have emailed them saying that is what’s expected.

        • The link may have been revised since (possibly thanks to your email) - "*Comes with default Medium ear-tips installed"

          • @Wozzer: Correct. That is the response I received from support.

  • How does the warranty work in this case?

    • The listing says "one year warrantly" - I'd imagine ymmv, but unsure of eligibility for AppleCare.

Mac Fix It. It means these are pre-loved airpods. Max Cleans It and Sell It

How is it openbox but brand new :S

    • +1

      Plus no cable or tips…

    • It depends on your preference to read Openbox > Brand new or Brand new > Openbox within the price tag. :P

    • They buy them brand new, open it up to drop the value, then post on OzB and finally "profit"!

I would steer clear! No applecare so you’re just shooting yourself in the foot. AppleCare is a must with these earphones cause battery degrades heaps and they give you new ones in second year so essentially 4 years use of AirPods Pro 2.. plus also no cable or tips so you’ll be “saving” so much less than you think and no AppleCare

    • +1

I'll test this out - it's certainly a risk. However, if they're truly "never used", AppleCare should not be an issue and will hopefully popup as an option once the airpods have been linked to my idevice.

      • It’s open box. I doubt Apple will adjust date for AppleCare since receipt will say open box and also price reflects that but see how you go.
Also no cable and no tips. Seems like a lot of risk and honestly not much reward.

$199 + $10 delivery + $15 tips from Apple you’re at $225 (also cable is worth $29 so $260 you’re paying essentially, even if you have cord you’re not getting same value).

So $260 when you could get for $280 new and ALSO you can’t get AppleCare

        • Typically there's no submitting receipt/adjustment etc, either it offers AppleCare or it's ineligible (device previously associated with another apple ID).
I'm actually fairly confident - but I'll try to report back once I get it in case it helps for similar future offers.
None of the additional costs applied to me - delivery charge was countered with the newsletter signup promotion, the medium tips work for me (and I have my old set of varying sizes - assuming same fit) plus I've too many "legacy" lightning cables - I won't miss another one.

          • @Wozzer: I just bought an open box (was a sealed return but they open everything to check) from Officeworks and on the call I sent through email and they adjusted it thankfully on the spot (so I can get AppleCare).

Yeah please do hopefully you get it.

            Also it’s not a lightning cable it’s a usb c cable.

For me biggest contention is AppleCare especially with pros

    • I thought the ACCC laws make it easy to replace these even up to 2 years if there's battery degradation beyond 80% observed without applecare as well. Besides, applecare for these is 49 bucks, and another 49 bucks to pay when replacing so effectively you're paying about a 100 bucks for a new set, which depending on this price is half the cost, but not exactly free
