TEMU - Native 1080p Projector, Experiences?

I was looking through TEMU and AliExpress at the cheap (c. $100) end of projectors, and could not work out what I'd actually be ordering! I'd ideally want native 1080p, but so many advertise that and then on other images said native 720p.

I'm not expecting samsung/sony quality from a device like this but would be interested in seeing how they function.

I was wondering what peoples experiences they have had off what they ordered vs what they received, and how do you know that what you're buying is the correct spec when the advert contains multiple specifications? For anyone using one of the cheap 1080p android projectors, how is it for use watching back movies streamed from a phone or from a fire stick, as where I'm living doesn't have a tv.

Thanks

I would watch a ton of videos on projectors first. There are many different types of projects and many have different quality when it comes to colour as well.

Yes, done a ton of youtubing, since of the reviews even say they ordered one thing and got another!

Even the same outer cases look to have multiple versions of internals in them.

If that's the case then you have your answer. Don't buy this product. If it's random chance you'll get something that meets the stated specs or not then you shouldn't buy it.

FWIW I'd stick to reputable sellers on AliExpress, at least for anything that costs more than a few $$.

    i got this one

    https://www.amazon.com.au/LG-PF610P-Portable-Theater-Project…

    it works
    its real 1000 lumens
can be had as little as $600
    check camelx3

    • Nice unit but I'm looking for a different end of the market (so not expecting $600 performance but just curious as to experiences at lower market end).

I mean.. the expectations have to be pretty low, no one with even a tiny amount of self respect towards quality could having anything but the lowest of low expectations.

There is a Singaporean or Malaysian guy on youtube that has a spreadsheet of all Aliexpress projectors and whether they are native 1080p. You'd probably need to spend $150 - $200 for a native 1080p projector.

    I bought a blitzwolf VP9 which wasn't too bad.

What i did was buy a reputable brand projector off facebook marketplace with a blown globe -i.e. really cheap. And then buy the globe off aliexpress

    • Good idea, might look into that. Thanks

      • +1

I actually found my projecter durring hard rubbish. The globe was $28.44 delivered from aliexpress. Bargain.

Also some projectors have a "globe life meter" inside them, so when the globe reaches X hours then it decides its time for a new globe and gives a "globe error". You can reset the hours and continue to use the globe. So sometimes "blown globe" = X hours reached (projector stops working). But given that globes get incredibly hot then they do die, so a globe error maybe a dead globe. But for a cheap "dead" globe projector then it is not a huge gamble when aliexpress globes can be bought cheap

  • Have a BlitzWolf BW-VP6 and BW-VP15, and I prefer the VP6.
Next projector will likely be a "4k" one.
Just need to solve how to transmit audio wirelessly while remaining syce to the video… any ideas?

Of the cheapies I've tried (Blitzwolf VP6, Happrun 9500L and the Wewatch V10P) the VP6 is definitely the better of the bunch.
It did cost more and is bigger and louder than the other two though.

If you are bluetoothing your audio, you might have sync adjustment that's enough to counter the BT delay (ie like the Fire Stick has this setting)

      • Yeah I've been bluetoothing from a google tv plugged in to the projector, and there is a slight delay, not unbearable, but noticeable.
Don't think the google tv has this feature, but I do have a fire stick somewhere so will give that a go. Thanks!

I have an amazon mini portable shortthrow projector that I paid $150 for and was quite surprised by how good it is. Quality is surprisingly good (need a completely dark room) and has auto-tilt correction which is handy. I connect a Marshall bluetooth speaker for sound which is much better than what you get from the projector. It has inbuilt apps like youtube, netflix and Amazon prime so no need to connect to the phone. It runs quite loud though

    • got the link?

      • same one as j-rock mentions below. Yes manual adjust needed but since I always place it in the same location once you have set it up once rarely need to change it. Cant beat the price for using it occasionally in bed to watch things on youtube and netflix ect.

    • I also bought a cheapie from Amazon to beam on the roof. The model number is HY320.

It's not super bright, so really only useable at night. And you have to focus it manually. The sound quality from the inbuilt speaker is atrocious so I use my headphones via bluetooth.

It has auto keystone correct which seems to work fine. I plug a fire stick into rather than using the software on the actual project.

For $100 (on sale) it's decent value. If I were to buy again I'd probably fork out a bit extra for something brighter + auto focus.

      • I'm guessing the keystone correction is software based then? The cheapies I have with manual keystone correction end up blurring part of the image if the projector is anything but dead on. Even manual software based would have been better than physical adjustment..

I would be more worried about lumens than the difference 720p/1080p

    • Yes there seems to be china lumens and then ANSI lumens. Not sure I'd believe either as the true brightness of a projector at this end of market, the ones stating 50 lumens are probably more honest than those stating 400, or 100000"lumens", whatever that means!

      • Yeah you might have to check for video reviews to get a reliable idea of performance but yeah if I were comparing two and the 720p was twice as bright as the 1080p, I'd go for the 720p.

        • Thanks, good idea, I guess good bright 720p would be better than faint laggy 1080p, it's only a stopgap for streaming movies from the phone while I'm working away, so the smaller/cheaper the better for that, as it probably won't get used once the jobs done.
