As one of those wierd 'detailing nerds' I can confirm, this wash is very easy to use, doesnt leave spots easily, and certainly seems to extend the life (repair) your current "real" coat of wax, just fine.

It also snow foams above average (since wax usually knocks down the suds).

    • You use this with a snow gun?

      • I use this and the gold wash in the gerni car wash snow gun and it works really well.

        • +1

I have the gold class one as well that I use with the spray gun, but wasn't sure this one could be used with gerni as well

          • +1

@horus85: I've used both this and the Gold Class, with a high pressure washer.

I still have this left, but I prefer the Gold Class.

Gold Class smells nice too 😊

            • +2

@whyisave: The Gold Class foams up better in the high pressure gun. Both smell good but the Ultimate smells sweeter.
Use the Gold Class first, rinse and then apply the Ultimate.

          • +1

@horus85: You can generally use any car soap in a foam gun between 8:1 to 10:1. Performance will vary

          • @horus85: Gold Class is cheaper if you don't need "wax" additive.

It's also currently on discount on Sparesbox_auto ebay

            $23.55 with OCTSAV15 code for 1.89L vs this $24.19 for 1.42L

The best i have ever used

  • SuperCheap will price beat this as well

I honestly don't know the difference I have this beautiful smelling one from supercheap auto pink coloured, probably was $10. My car is ceramic coated but works perfectly on it what is this price discrimination (searched it, SCA concentrate for $10)

    • +1

Makes sense price wise as the SCA branded product cuts out the middleman that comes with the Meguires product.

      • +2

Oh me today learning SCA stands for super cheap auto..

  • +9

Cheaper on ebay with current coupon code. Even cheaper if using GC to pay on top.

    • link and code?

      • +3

        Code is OCTSAV15
        Seller is sparesbox_auto

        • $23.69 supercheap via chat.

        • +1

Thanks, managed to price beat at SuperCheap from the ebay site with the promo code, 23.69.
Also have 10% GC via work so this will come down to 21.32

        • Paid $22 two years ago at Sparesbox eBay. Very good product in a gun or bucket.

    • Thanks champ, ordered one from eBay

  • Can this used with a foam gun?

    • It can, I've used it. foams well for a thicker soap. Just make sure you run clean water through the foam canon after using it. If it dried in there it could cause blockage of the filter.

  • Does anyone know how this one compares to the Chemical Guys Sticky Snowball Ultra Snow Foam one that was posted earlier (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/871821)?

  • +1

So expensive, it looks like they increased a lot then discount the price. I bought 2 of them 3 years ago for $14 each during the Covid. These are very good products. You don't need to use much for a car. I usually clean the car once a month and haven't used half of 1st bottle. You save a lot when using this one because they are concentrated.

  • +1

I tried washing my car with this and it still doesn't look like the one of the bottle.

    • +2

The one on the bottle is a High Investment Yield vehicle.

      • I still remember that controversial post about the HIYV.

    • It sounds like you need to add elbow grease to your wash routine.

A good wash for those that are too keen to apply wax/sealant/coatings but price has increased over the years. I would avoid if car is proected unless it is approaching end of life.

There is better options but never have complaints with Meguiars. This has a 128:1 ratio putting it above $2/wash is using 15L of water.

CarPro Reset (400:1) is a fair superior option at a similar price per wash. NV Snow (200:1) is a great option too but value not as good unless buying 4L. Snow is by far the best foamer of all three.

This is my opinion but my ultimate recommendation is to find something you like and use it often.

This guy washes cars! Appreciate the data and breakdown.

What's your opinion on Geyon Bathe/Bathe+?
My car is ceramic coated with Gtechnic CSL and been using Meguirs Gold Class for foam and C2V3 as a topper. Wanted to switch to Geyon Bathe+ and ExoV5.

      • Geyon and Gtechnic are a couple of brands I have never used. Given what I have read on forums and watched on YT, Bathe is a quality product (but/and so is Gold). I believe Bathe isn't very foamy but it makes this up in slickness. I could only suggest giving it a go, you have Gold on hand which is a great baseline comparison.

    • +1

What would you recommend for general car care? (I.e. coat, wash products w/frequency etc)

      • +2

So many options and opinions but trying to keep it simple hard to argue against:
Wash - CarPro Reset but NV Snow foams better (but is pricer)
Spray coating - CarPro Reload (great intro to coatings) or HydrO2 Concentrate for ease of use. I need to use this more often or alternative brands. Great for those hard to reach areas like wheels and arches or just for its easy apply rinse off application
Wheel cleaner - NV Purge (when really dirty) or if keep them clean you car soap will just do fine.

        Wash as often as needed.
Protect every 1-2 months but durability can vary depending on product used. I think it is important to find something you like and you will be inclined to keep on top of protection.

One of the best YT reviewers is Sandro from Car Craft Detailing. Gives great breakdowns and being Australian, you know you can find these products locally.

I am a detailing enthusiast and a huge Carpro fanatic and most of my detailing products are from Carpro, NV, Gyeon and Gtechniq. In my opinion, I wouldn’t recommend Carpro Reset to be used on a non-ceramic coated car despite it being PH neutral. The reason is that Reset was designed to unclog and maintain ceramic coatings, and will most likely strip wax coated cars due to its strong cleaning abilities and surfactants. What I recommend is for regular folks to just use NV Snow as a contact wash shampoo as mentioned by 4agte for non-ceramic coated cars or Meguiars Wash & Wax or Meguiars Gold Class; and Carpro Reset or NV Snow for general ceramic coated vehicle washes.

          Tip:
          1. It is critical to wash your car in the shade to prevent chemicals and water drying on surface. If unable, aim to wash the car early morning or late afternoon as that is when temperatures are cooler and the sun is less intense.
          2. Use a 2-bucket wash method with grit guard placed at bottom of bucket. 1 wash bucket with soap and 1 rinse bucket with just clean water.
          3. Use a high quality microfibre wash mitt or multiple high GSM microfibre towels (personally use about 10 per contact wash).
          4. Wash wheels before paint to prevent splatter onto cleaned paint.
          5. Wash from top to bottom. I generally leave the lower panel areas to wash at the end as they are the most dirty.
6.Wash panel by panel if outdoor and/or at risk of chemicals drying.
          7. If any equipments that touches the paint like towels, rags, wash mitts and etc are dropped on the floor, discard it and use a new one. If not, it will cause marring and scratches on paint.
          8. Use a pressure washer if have access to it. Ideally use a pressure washer that has an output of at least 7L/minute or 2 Gallons/minute for thick snow foam, and less than 2000 PSI for safe rinsing. I can recommend accessories and attachments if interested but it will cost quite a bit of money for a decent set-up.

          General Wash Process:
          1. Pre-wash the wheels with foam or wheel specific chemicals like NV Purge, Gyeon Iron Wheel Cleaner, P&S Brake Buster and etc.
          2. If tyres are dirty, spray tyre cleaner onto tyre and scrub with brush while letting pre-wash to dwell. Recommend Carpro Retyre and P&S Brake Busters.
          3. Rinse chemicals off.
          4. Contact wash with 2-bucket method. Start with cleaning the wheel barrel with a microfibre wheel barrel brush. Then, clean the wheel surface with separate mitt and brush. Recommend using wheel specifics wash mitts as they are smaller and a soft-medium bristle brush to get into tight areas where the mitt may not reach.
          5. Rinse chemicals thoroughly off.
          6. Repeat on all wheels.
          7. Pre-wash the car with snow foam and let it dwell as long as possible before it dries to remove as much dirt, debris and contaminants as possible. Recommend NV Snow for both non-ceramic coated and ceramic coated cars. Carpro Lift, NV Snow+ or Gyeon Q2M Foam as quarterly or half year maintenance wash for ceramic coated cars.
          8. Rinse pre-wash off.
          9. Foam one side of the car for extra lubricity for contact wash.
10 (a). Contact Wash method 1: Use a fresh 2-bucket wash (not same with wheels) with grit guards as a contact wash. Flip microfibre mitt every half to a whole panel or as required to minimise swirls. Dunk into rinse bucket and scrub with hand or angled grit guard to remove dirt, contaminants and debris into bucket. Dunk into wash bucket and repeat.
10 (b). Contact Wash method 2: Use 2 buckets. 1 wash bucket with multiple high quality and high GSM microfibre towels in it, and 1 bucket with water just to store the dirty towels. Depending on size of towels, fold into half once or twice to create multiple wash sides. Flip towel side every half panel or as required to minimise swirls. When all sides are used, discard into dirty bucket (bucket with water) and repeat.
          11. Once one side of the car is complete. Rinse chemicals off including other sides of the car if there is soap.
          12. Repeat on all sides of the car.
          13. Rinse car and wheel again to ensure no soap is on surface.
          14. Protect the paint with spray on-wash off sealants like Carpro HydrO2 wipe-less, Gyeon Wet Coat, P&S Bead Maker, DIY Quick Beads and etc. Do this panel by panel and rinse including surrounding areas to prevent high spots. Ignore this step if applying wipe on-wipe off sealants.
          15. Protect wheel with spray on-wash off sealant.
          16. Rinse sealant chemical off and surrounding areas to avoid high spots.
          17. Thoroughly rinse entire vehicle to ensure no chemicals are on paint and wheels.
          18. Drying: If have access to air blower, blow water off the car panels and come around again to blow out crevices and catch it with microfibre towel to prevent water spots. If you don’t have access to an air blower, invest in high quality and high gsm drying towels like from The Rag Company. 1 towel is generally enough for a small car. Multiple may be required for larger cars.
          19. Protection: Protect the cars paint surface by using a wipe on-wipe off sealant or quick detailer. Spray sealant onto 1 microfibre detailing towel and apply onto surface and wipe-off with a different towel to prevent streaking and high spots. Flip towel sides if dirty. Repeat on all panels. Recommend Carpro Reload 2.0, Carpro Elixir, Gyeon Cure, Gyeon Ceramic Detailer, Gtechniq C2v3.
          20. Protect and dress the tyre with Carpro Darkside (apply every few months or when no more protection is visible as it is a tyre sealant) or Carpro Perl with no dilution or 1:1 with distilled water after every wash.

If any other questions, I am happy to help.

          Happy Detailing

          • @CheapSkate21: Thanks for writing all this and the recommendations. In terms of grid guard, snow cannon and pressure washer - do you also have recommendations? I am looking to spruce up my Toyota :)

            • +1

              @benny2000: Hi @benny2000,

If you’re on a tight budget and want a pretty decent kit, I can recommend the Bigboi Washr Flo 2nd Gen and Ryobi 1800W. I’ve personally owned both of these and I like the Bigboi better as it includes the accessories that I would actually use like their foam cannon and quick connector 1/4 inch nozzle tips; and their Bigboi system. Ryobi also includes a foam cannon and some other accessories which I don’t use.

If you’re willing to spend a bit more, the Bigboi Washr Pro is very good but pricey, and it is the machine that I am currently using. I’ve heard good things about the Active 2.0 as well but do your own research on as I have no experience with that pressure washer.

Consider if you will be using the pressure washer only for your car or any other usage around the house. The reason is that both the Bigboi Washr Pro and Active 2.0 do not have built in wheels. You can build a custom trolley or buy the wheels specifically made for the Washr Pro. Another method is to install a wall mount and bolt it down so then the pressure washer is fixed. However, this means you will be needing a new longer hose which I will be recommending anyway.

If you don’t like the Bigboi’s included foam cannon, you can have look at the MTM PF22.3, MJJC SV3 and MJJC Pro V2. I currently use the MTM PF22.2 and it produces nice thick foam since it is already installed with a 1.1mm orifice.

I also recommend investing in a short gun trigger as it makes the whole washing experience much easier, better and controllable. Look at short gun triggers that has a 360 degree swivel built in as it helps to reduce hose kink and tangling. I recommend the MTM SG28 and SG35 as they are light weight and affordable. Both of these triggers do not have a built in swivel from factory, however, if you purchase them through Waxit, they include and install it for you. If you want a built in swivel from factory, MTM SGS28 and SGS35. Both of these trigger models are the built in swivel from factory and have stainless steel bodies rather than brass bodies. I personally use Mosmatic OG short gun trigger but they are very expensive and heavy. It causes fatigue through my whole arm when pressure washing the car.

I also recommend buying a new pressure washer hose as the ones included are too short, hard to move around, kink and tangle. I don’t know much about hoses so I can’t help you out much in this area. Some hoses, they may come with different coupling ends, and you may need to buy pressure washer adapter fittings in order for it to fit. I currently use the MTM Kobrajet 15m hose as it comes with a built swivel from the inlet end. If do buy the Kobrajet hose through Detailing Shed, you do not need to buy an adapter fitting separately as it is included as a package according to the listing.

Any grit guard would be fine as long as it fits in the bucket and does not float up. If it does float, zip tie a fishing weight down on it. I personally use Detail Guardz Grit Guard and Detail Guardz Scrub and Pump. Not sure if the scrub and pump actually works but the placebo effect is enough for me.

          • @CheapSkate21: If you are using a foamer, apply from the bottom up.

Supercheap blue truck wash is the best at foaming you can buy. It is a clone of RL18, it foams thick like real snow.

The original was made by Warwick that sell pressure cleaners. It's now owned by Chemtech that do CT18.

            • +1

@CurlCurl: @CurlCurl is correct. Apply snow foam bottom to top to allow more soap dwell time. I also do the same principle when rinsing too. Start rinse from bottom to top, then rinse again from top to bottom. Some may argue it is too much and wasting water. Everybody has different techniques and uses what they find best for them.

              • @CheapSkate21: Correct.

              • @CheapSkate21: Do you have any recs for an off the shelf gift pack for a relative that drives a ute? They don't do anything for their ute at the moment but own a Karcher snow gun. I also bought the big Boi flo, thanks for your rec. Is there a way I can buy you a coffee or beer?

Same chemical makeup as the one from reject shop

      Citation needed.

      • Both are primarily H-O-H

        • Both are primarily H-O-H

          Primarily doesn't make them identical.

          • @CurlCurl: The comment was obviously sarcasm. With rare exception, on this website there's a 99% chance that anyone making such a statement won't have a clue what the (active) chemical makeup of any product is.

  • Hmm, this, or Bowdens Nanolicious?

    • +1

There is little difference, both work well so go with whichever is discounted.

  • So you use this to clean the car, then once cleaned it also have a coat of polish on the car once dry so less dirt will be on the car? How often do you use this? Every month? Every 6 months?

    • This is just a car shampoo that leaves surfactants behind to create a great gloss and slickness. Gold or another shampoo that leaves nothing behind would be better if going to polish. I prefer to use an alkaline shampoo if going to polish/protect but this is not necessary for the weekender

    • +1

Yes, this is a wash with some "wax" (actually a combo of carnauba and a synthetic sealant) in it.

Ideally you would have deep cleaned and "polished" your car with a sealant before using this. You then wash and top up your sealant with the Ultimate until your next BIG clean/polish. If the paint isn't hydrophobic (water is sheeting rather than beading off quickly) after using it then you really should be doing the big clean and re-applying your sealant.

How often should you wash your car? Too many variables to say. Is your vehicle usually garaged? What's the local environment/weather been like? City pollution or country driving? Does your car regularly get bird droppings or tree sap on it? Does the car have a professional ceramic coating or a meticulous ethusiast's sealant applied? How much time do you have? Do you obsess over your car being shiny? Etc……

      • +1

ok thanks for that. I have an old VW so as long as its clean I am happy to be honest. Shiny or not really isnt too important to me

        • +1

Fair enough. A good wash, then polish with a synthetic sealant will help keep it clean and make washing easier.

  • +1

If you don't use it for awhile the bottle explodes. Good news is that it smells OK.

  • Is this compatible with ceramic coating?if not what is best option. Tia

    • Want to know too

    • No, this is not compatible with ceramic coated cars. The reason is that any wax product applied onto ceramic coating will clog the pors and negatively affect the ceramic hydrophobic and other abilities. Ask your detailer on what product to use. You can stick with the same brand system and use the same soap as your ceramic coating. What I generally recommend that are compatible with ceramic coatings like Carpro Reset, NV Snow, Gyeon Bathe, Gyeon Bathe+, Gyeon Restart, Koch Chemie GSF, Gtechniq GWash and Gtechniq Ceramic GWash. Then after, use a ceramic topper if required to maintain the coating properties and longevity.

      • Wow, thanks for that…tbh not sure what ceramic they used on my car. Will ask them next week what they used, thanks for the Informative reply, much appreciated

  • Is this the creamy wash?

  • Any recommendations for a snow foam gun/bottle?
