Have to hand it to OP though, that was a good sales pitch. I almost bought one until seeing your comment.

According to camels actual amazon price history and it's RRP listed on other aussie sites, it's RRP is $45

But's it's being sold for $30 at almost all music stores in Australia ATM, so this is a pretty wide sale

OP is right though, last time I looked it was this and then the next step up is the SM58 which is like $150.

Well it's good to know about a good deal even if it's not too much better price than usual.

I gig with one of these, rock solid. Hard case is beefy but I just chuck it in my big box of misc gig stuff and let it bounce around.

I bought one of these when it was on a similar sale in nov 2022. I really need to get an XLR interface so I can use it…

  • out of stock now, can still order

It drfinitely depends on what you want to do with it. Behringer Make some great products like mixers and effects units which are exceptionally well priced. However the SM58 has be a stable for dynamic wired mics for years. You know what you are getting. Obviously I wouldn’t recommend one for podcasts, you would be much better off with a condenser mic, and unless you are plugging into a mixer, R0DE have some excellent priced condenser mics which have either USB or XLR. If it was for a single person doing their own podcast a condenser mic, with a good stand, pop protector and good Mic Stand is going to be better but will also pickup more ambient sound and noise from your desk so good isolation from noise sources is good. This Behringer Dynamic mic - looks interesting for the price, shame it’s out of stock already.

what bugging me is it doesn't has a on/off switch, any one know an addon solution? An XLR cable or adaptor with the switch perhaps?

  • Can anyone recommend a cheap stand to attach to a desk for recording vocals/acoustic/electric guitar?

These should fit into a standard mic stand, that being said get the dimensions and if you plan on recording vocals, it might be worth getting a foam pop protector, not sure how sensitive these are. You probably won’t need it. It would more of a. Issue on a condenser mic.

These Behringer mics are a bit of an unknown for me, I can only go on similar shapes of cardioid dynamic mics. They may fit a standard mic stand, that would be logical. Behringer make heaps of semi pro and professional audio gear so good chance a standard mic stand that fits a SM58 should fit these, unless you need desk isolation, in which case you might have to look for something custom. You can always email Behringer on their website and ask. Include the model number.

And when you say mic stand, are you looking for floor, desk or a flexible with a floor mount and a flexible elbow stand?

Sorry, if I’m being overly specific. Sometimes non-standard shaped mics will have a suitable adapter that either comes with it or as an accessory.

Also watch those YouTube vids mentioned by the original OP - they might mention it or go to the listing on Amazon - you can ask the seller or it might be mentioned if you look into the specs. If in doubt, email Behringer.

      • @dman1 thanks for such a detailed reply! I’m looking for something that will mount to my desk, I couldn’t see anything mentioned in the videos but I might trawl Amazon from what you’ve mentioned. Basically I’m looking to set up a simple audio interface to record vocals and general guitar parts for general fun for myself and get my young kid involved. Just simple to see if he might be interested in recording himself and I can play some basic guitar songs, make up some dumb stuff but actually record it so he can hear it back. I’ve always played in jam bands for fun and want to see if he might get interested in music. I will take your advice and look on the Behringer website and see some specs. Cheers again
