Anyone know if this is compatible with Anko magnetic tiles?

    • Came here to ask the same thing!

      Anyone know?

    • +3

Yeah it is. Most of the tiles that look similar are compatible. (Eg connetix, playmags, Magna tiles, etc). Ones with rounded corners are likely not compatible.

The Anko magnets are weak - you'd likely want to use them where magnet strength is not as important.

Any recommendations for the best ones?

My kids love the anko pipeline set. We build a "marble run".

        • Connetix are probably the best but also the most costly. Better colours and concave tiles so less likely to get scratched.

We have Playmags as they were the cheapest of the more reviewed brands and had metal rivets in corners.

  • +3

I have both, it is definitely compatible. It is also worth noting that the Anko one comes with smaller magnetic strips and lighter weight, the magnet location might not 100% align with each other.

just for expectations - the image shown in the jpg would take about 5 kits to construct

    • Thanks, I was wondering that.
I think that's pretty dishonest from their part.

  • Thanks OP - will add these to my daughters set.

  • +2

Fair warning these a much more likely to come apart than their expensive brethren brands that are riveted and of higher quality (and cost).

You do take a risk with the cheap ones it if your kiddos are the “this must taste good. Let me try it” type.

Although these aren’t the OG brand. They are well built. The magnet is much stronger than other brands. I’ve never had any tiles break or come apart.

    • Came here to say the same.

  • Smaller size?

  • Thanks OP, had been eyeing off Connetix for some time but just couldn't pull the trigger at their prices. Couldn't go passed the Picasso at this price. Heads up to anyone after more than one set, looks like the coupon only applies to the first item.
