Is that a trick or a treat?
Invisible flame thrower. Good Different.
I'm surprised Bunnings does not have anything similar, not much reviews on this besides the fact that you can set things on fire unknowingly.
Easy returns at Aldi. So you can test it out yourself
Hello Doctor,
it does not light fire by itself need electricity and power to be set to on.
@rs0123: Yes, I know. My comment was meant as a joke.

A few ALDI products have that feature
I like the idea of setting the annoying weeds on fire. But at the risk of setting the house of fire…hmm.
If there is a risk of leaving it plugged in and on, then, probably a good to avoid until the people in question (being dumb enough to leave stuff on) have had adequate training. People need to think for themselves instead of bubble wrapping everything for everyone
It's just a hot air gun but with swivelling and extended handle so that you don't have to bend down to the ground for each weed. Nothing special.
They do, it is a hot air gun. The Aldi one is cheaper and comes with the extension pole, but I can't tell if it has adjustable heat and fan settings.
The bunnings ones don't come with that extension and don't have a swivelling handle, but you could make your own by tying the hot air gun to the end of a stick.

I would highly advise against doing this.
normal heat gun from bunnings is more portable and easier to store. itll do the job fine
The butane powered weed burners are portable and less than half price.
You need to factor in the price of a can of butane ($1.40), which probably has an hour runtime at most. In comparison to electricity where 1 hour uses 2kWh, which is between $0.60 to 0.80).
The extension cord is a limiting factor that makes portability a convenience worth paying extra for.
After watching the video it's almost like you want a stand to hold it over the weed. I like the idea of fire though, maybe something as simple as a Bossweld Map-Pro Weed Burner at $48 and a Butane tank for $18, why not!
While I'm not comparing apples to apples it is Fire vs Grass type Pokemon sooooo.
Can you attach those bbq butane cans to this?

Yaaaa
After watching the video, it seems like it's going to take a much longer time than a whipper snipper. I'm thinking that this is the most time and energy consuming way of weeding.
I'm thinking that this is the most time and energy consuming way of weeding.
Yes. You are not wrong.
Far easier to run a Ryobi sprayer over the area that needs weeding out, and wait a few days.
whipper snipper just cuts off the top though, it'll quickly regrow.
But as mentioned below, boiling water works great (I do this as I have a cat, rather than spray).
Not only that, a lot of weeds have seeds, and using a whipper snipper will spread them across your lawn.
Start with one or two cobblers pegs weeds, and you'll soon have hundreds.
For such weeds, the only solution is to carefully pull them out of the ground, keeping the seeds attached, and then bin the lot.
Saw articles saying pouring boil water on weeds is just as affective.
Works well. Feels a little strange taking your kettle for a walk in the garden
I need to find a 100 litre kettle.
get one of those weeders you stand on and pull, fiskars are good but there are also plenty of cheap generics
pouring boil water on weeds is just as affective.
If you have a floor steamer, and can take the cleaning/mopping head off, steam is very effective too. And less chance you'll be splashed with boiling water, and no chance to set something on fire.
Got one yesterday. It is a heat gun that rotates to go straight and has a handle attachment. Takes a long time to burn anything. Propane weed burner are the way to go IMO. Butane ones are good for few of minutes of use until the can becomes cold. Once the cans are cold the butane torch becomes useless. 1m2 weeds took about at hour to crisp. I may of over done it, you don't need to crisp or burn the weeds. You just need to sizzle them and they will wither away in few days.
Any other tips to using butane ones? Tia
I carry multiple cans of butane. When one gets cold I replace it with another butane can. Leave the cold can in the sun to warm up again.
is the heat adjustable? would think your want the heat to be less intense when used as a heat gun vs burning weeds?
3 levels. It looks and works exactly like a heat gun.
Might be worth experimenting a bit, you probably don't have to actually crisp them to kill them
I know for a fact that you don't need to. It is my OCD that is telling me to burn them to a crisp.
i'm holding out for the ALDI personal flame thrower
those who bought and used it please provide your review and opinions.
For paths and other areas that you don't have other plants, one of the things I use is pool salt and dish wash. During summer times, just spraying this mix on weeds is enough to kill them in two days. Add cleaning viniger and you'll have an even more powerful weed killler.
Pool salt 20Kg ~ $13.50
Cleaning viniger 2L ~ $3
Dish wash - you'd only need less than 5ml
But what happens when the rain washes the salt off the pathway and onto the lawn?
don't pray on soil; just spray on the leaves. Why would mix in a serfactant and spray it on the soil? Sigh!
Your reply is very random and doesn't address my comment at all? Lol.
If it was as simple as using salt + washing up liquid, WITHOUT causing unintended damage to the rest of the garden - everyone would be doing it.
Gravity
What proportions do you use please?
I add two viniger bottles (cleaning viniger, not food grade) to a 5L spray bottle. And then disolve as much salt as I can. The add a few squits of dish soap. Then spray it on the leaves. Broad-leaved weeds (such as Dandelion) will have visible results in a few hours. Grasses will die in about 2-3 days.
You don't need to spray a lot, just to cover the leaves with a fine mist. You can kill thistle as well. But need to spray a bit more. It goes without saying that this should not be sprayed on your lawn - just in areas that doesn't have any plants that you care about.
But make sure that there's no rain for a few days. It don't work when the soil is wet as well.
Search Youtube and you'll also find a few formulas other people have used.
Instructions unclear, backyard is no more
Wouldn't end up well thinking this was a sex toy.
Got a neg from someone, must have bought up old memories of a mishap with a curling wand.
As far as hot air gun goes, is this a good price? Or can i get somethjng cheaper
I think the Ozito heat gun went for under $20 for father's day.
was that this past fathers day?
Last sale was end of last year. You can do a search for heat gun.

That poor lady in the YouTube clip was really having a tough time with those weeds.
5 min job with petrol/diesel mix.
Went to buy one but delayed. 👎

Any good for halloween ?
