JBL SB550 3.1 Ch 250W Soundbar $199 ($194 with Price Beat) + Delivery ($0 C&C) @ The Good Guys

140

Been looking for a cheap 3.1ch Soundbar and after a few Samsungs @ Costco coming up but out of budget, this came as a Door Buster deal in the emails today.

Read the reviews online and it seems like a decent soundbar.

Good specs: 250w, Wireless subwoofer, HDMI ARC Input, Optical Input, 1x USB Input, Dolby Audio, Bluetooth 5.3.

Potentially cheaper on Ebay GG if you have some voucher (I had a $30 voucher, but $10 shipping charge - $179 total delivered).

I would say this is a better deal than the Bose Solo Soundbar 2 which is very mediocre.

    Is the subwoofer good?

I had similar jbl soundbar but no sub.

Thinking of upgrading. Btw can you connect 2 soundbar to a tv at same time?

  • I think in terms of bass, best not to hope for stupendous bass with it's 5.25" driver

  • I have a PC, and also in process of getting the Samsung G8 which has HDMI arc. What's the best way to get sound and video while using this soundbar? I'm trying to get away from using aux.

    • Connect with a Toslink cable from your PC if you want the best sound

Thanks op. Ordered off eBay store for the extra $20 off and just picked up in store.

How come this is the same price as the compact 80w bar that doesn't come with a separate woofer?

  • Thanks op, got one and set it up and had a listen. It sounds pretty crisp when listening to music on spotify, the bass isn't all that earth shattering but it's not bad for the price. The subwoofer fits perfectly inside my Ikea TV cabinet so its hidden away, doesn't make things shake. There's a little bit of lag time between changing volumes on the TV remote and it being reflected on the speaker. But if using the speaker remote, it's instant.

  • Got mine running today and I'm very impressed for the price. I am not an audiophile by any means, but it sounds very good to me. The voice/music/movie settings are all pretty much spot on what I would have wanted, and the bass is easily adjusted in the remote. Highly recommend for the sub $200 price.
