Coles Branded Corn Chips Vs Doritos Flavour

Has anyone tried the Coles corn chips? https://www.coles.com.au/product/coles-corn-chips-cheese-sup…
does it compare to Doritos?

Just wondering if it's worth it - $5 for 170g of Doritos is crazy.

I'm thinking of replacing my once a week Doritos meal with a Coles branded one but not sure if they cheap out on the flavour

I get the plain Coles corn chips. They are decent, but not great.

Will you be posting a question like this for every Cole’s branded item they sell as you start to tighten your wallet? Why don’t you just buy it and try it? You can form a judging panel of one.

I'm living a new lifestyle where I get one cheat meal a week and I choose to have it on a weekend. In my case Nachos. I am not going to ruin my weekend (yes bad food upsets me) because I didn't spent 2 min asking a question on a forum to see if someone else has experience on it. God forbid I'm also on a site that is all about deals wanting to save $$

Not sure what side of the bed you woke up on, but if you don't know the answer, just move on. We don't know everyone's life story so why be a dick

You're on a deals website so do the sensible thing - when doritos are on sale stock up. Like right now, at coles.

You can also just buy the coles ones and try a chip without using them for your entire meal.

I'd take the sensible advice given here. No one knows your tastebuds like you do.

Have you considered nachos, Flanders style?

OP people paying $5 for 170g of Doritos is crazy.
But no one on ozbargain is paying full price for an item that is part of the supermarket specials rotation.

Coles has Doritos for $3.35 (170g) this week.
CCs (175g) regular price is $3.00.

NQR has Doritos Flamin Hot Cheese Supreme 80g for $1.00.

Coles has Doritos 380g party size for $5.00 this week.

    • but i want it now :(

  • Doritos taste like onion powder.

Crazy idea, why don’t you just try the Cole’s brand for yourself and make your own decision?

  • Only buy Doritos when it's half price either in Coles or Woolworths. Stock up if you want when half price. Home brand is okay if you like the taste.

  • Who the hell buys full-priced food? I haven’t bought anything at the supermarket that wasn’t on sale in about 20 years.

  • Doritos/CC’s are always on sale anyway

      Cc cornados are next level

      • bought them the other day, and not sure how i feel about them. They remind me of those sour cream chives Grain Waves

Its a $2.30 bag of corn chips. Its not a life altering decision!!

Why is this even a thread!? Just buy the bag and see if you like it or not. Just buy the Coles ones Doritos ones to compare yourself.

      wack jimmyf

      • Maybe your note should have been to Grow up and stop making threats to people you disagree with.

        • Wasn’t that meant to be a joke because you said corn chips aren’t life altering?

We use the Coles corn chips and find them great. Definitely don't see the point in paying the extra for a brand name.

  • I drive my high yield investment vehicle to coles to buy their branded corn chips rather than branded corn chips as i am savy with money.

Aldi dorito knockoffs are good. My favuorite are actually woolies organic corn chips from the health food aisle

  • Doritos

I make Nachos roughly fortnightly and have sampled pretty much every brand of corn chip I can find and Coles Original Corn Chips are the absolute gold standard. In terms of crispness, flavour and how they hold up in the oven they’re second to none, also about half the price of Mission et al.
    IMO CCs are the worst

So while I cannot speak to the quality of the cheese flavouring I can vouch for these being well manufactured chippies and worthy of at least a trial run.

  • why not have both?

Coles tasted fine, better price by far, and with a Coles dip, no brainer.

Only you and your taste buds can answer to buy Coles again.
