I know golf is a premium sport.

like status symbol for presidents etc. but dumbest sport ever imo, the area is so large they need to use carts to actually speed it up because people are impatient.

went to this famous “walk” with a view once. they didn’t tell me part of the walk was along the edge of a friggin golf course. I was worried to whole time I was going to get a golf ball to the head and I wasn’t wrong a few landed near me! and I wasn’t even playing golf!! (if I was I would accept some responsibility)

We're you wearing an onion on your belt at the time?

@DashCam AKA Rolts: Of course, since it was the style at the time.

            • @brendanm: and that's the obvious answer I have known all along thanks * breathes * you have proven me right!

thanks to both you two for good voting my comment above. I appreciate it. * stubs pointy fingers together *

          • @DashCam AKA Rolts:

how real (good) or bad (fake) can a tennis racket be??
it’s a piece of plastic with some stitching on it made of fishing wire. they don’t even bother to make fakes imo.

How to tell the world you don't have a clue, without saying "I don't have a clue"

      it’s a piece of <material> with some <feature> on it made of <other material>.

      Clueless

      • thank you I think I can make it myself with leftovers arts and crafts stuff.

I mean, how real can a tennis racket be?

  • It is real most likely. Boost Aero is a cheaper version of Pure Aero. Boost Aero sells for 189 in Tennis Only while Pure Aero is 399.

    • That's what I feel like

Strung weight 273g; fake racquets will likely be heavier.

Good idea, if I am getting it I will carry a weight scale.

  • In this AI era, we can’t believe anything we see. Tell the seller you want to touch it before committing.

  • My loss for only seeing a facebook login screen rather than the photo - real or fake?

No intention of ever engaging with that platform for such a trifle - real or fake?

I'd be more worried about the seller being a scammer tbh. Cash on pickup only and don't pay a deposit or anything. Their account was created last year so just be weary.

    • They have sent me their address for pick up

It looks like a real tennis racket to me.

    • same same

    This racquet is a racket

    Could be.

On the one hand there are lots of fake Babolats out there.
On the other hand this is the cheap Boost version which you can get for $160 new so not sure why anyone would bother to fake it rather than the full Aero which costs $360+

I once bought a fake Aero second hand off gumtree.

    How to tell?

It can actually be quite hard to tell as the fake is actually quite good and even harder if you don't know what you are looking for and don't have a real one to compare to. Fortunately, I have 2 real ones as well in the family. But the main things are

    • weight, you need an accurate kitchen scale. My fake is about 30g lighter
    • balance (balance it on a hard object and see where the balance point is )
    • grommets - the real one has Babolat's special spin grommets whereas the fake one doesn't, The grommets are also poorly formed
    • Lettering and graphics are slightly different and poorer quality (although this also varies by model year to year)
    • If you remove the end cap the internal construction is poor (obviously you can't do this with a new racket)

In terms of playability, the fake one definitely feels different but isn't too bad and is certainly usable

I'm sure plenty of people buy and play with them for years and never know

I'm struggling to tell if this post is real or fake! Can someone please advice?

  • Could be hot if not fake.

  • ask if he has the receipt
looks real to me mainly because of the barcode. It looks aged which suggests it was probably on clearence

  • Thank you, everyone, but I decided not to buy it.

    • Did you find out any more about this? Seems to be loads brand new cheap racquets on FB marketplace, and conidcidentally, all of them are stocked almost exclusively at Rebel Sport… like they're fallen off the back of a truck or something.
