Yeh was hoping to do the officeworks discount from costco for 16 plus $1549. I guess they wont pricematch if costco are out of stock?

iPhone 14s are flooding the used market at the moment, with people doing the "every other year" upgrade cycle.

I've just replaced my 11 Pro Max with a pristine used 14 Pro Max 256GB (with 92% battery) for $920. If you're patient, picky and somewhat lucky there are big bargains out there for 2 year old phones without having to purchase brand new.

14? this is 2 generations old by now; and the 14 itself runs off the same chipset as the 13. You may as well get a 13 for a lot less.

Got my old man a 13 (128GB) for $999 back in 2022 lol.

How do people feel the refurbished iPhones that can be purchased on eBay compare? Are they worth the circa 3-400$ savings?
I’ve been contemplating upgrading from my current iPhone 11, but at this price I may as will get the new 16 with a bit less storage capacity..

I got one, got a great deal, perfect condition 100% battery, I did opt for the highest tier from that seller, but it was still 67% the retail price for 99% of the phone.

    Wow

2 year old phone with 3 year old chip for $1,354 I will buy a dozen at that price. :-(

  • Yeah I would personally recommend getting the Pro Max version of the 14, solid phone with great battery life compared to previous models. Plenty for better value on eBay and the odd new one pops up which is rare as Apple have stopped selling the Pro Max and only sell the technologically inferior Plus models.

  • This is wild. I remember buying this exact model/colour around this time back in 2023 for ~$1.2k direct from Apple? Or was that the 256GB variant?

    Well, could do

    iPhone 14, 512GB, Red - $1354

    or

    iPhone 16, 128GB, Black - $1399
    +
    SanDisk Ultra 256GB, Silver - ~$35
    +

    iPhone 16 case, Red - ~$17

    iPhone 16, 384GB, Red - $1451

~$100 for a 3 year newer chip, 2 year newer phone, that has Apple Intelligence, more RAM +2 years more of software updates, bigger battery, better camera, USB-C, seemingly no contest.

Or, if you're really thrifty, what I'd do,

    iPhone 15 Pro, 128GB, natural titanium, $1240 (refurbished as new/excellent, e Bay)
    +
    SanDisk Ultra 256GB, Silver - ~$35
    +

    iPhone 15 Pro case, Red - ~$20

    iPhone 15 Pro, 384GB, Red - $1295

~$50*, less, for a 1 year newer phone, 2 year newer chip, still has Apple Intelligence, more RAM, +1 year software update, nearly identical battery, better cameras, USB-C, again seems like a much better choice.

    • Hi, I didn't know you could use memory cards with the upper tier Apple pro models? I have a 14 pro and I can't see where the memory card goes?

I do agree with your point that you may as well buy a newer model phone for cheaper or around the same price.

      • you can't. Apple devices don't support memory cards. Exactly because they can sell you the memory upgrade for 5x the markup.

They're just highlighting how wild apple prices can be

        • That is the conclusion that I came to as well!

      • You can get USB thumb drives, either lightning or USB-C for the later models, realise I didn't specify, will edit the comment.

EDIT I can't since it's already been replied - a 256GB SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive for about $30-40

Thanks for clarifying! I actually bought a generic usb thumb drive with usb a and lighting connections and I download my photos to this. Was $40 for 512gb.
