Hamper Magic $5 for Their Spreads Hamper (down from The Ridiculous $52) for Christmas 2013

80
FRENZY

I'm normally the last person to say that a Hamper company is offering a good deal but here it is.

$5 for the following items.

Nutella Hazelnut Spread 750gm x 1
Kraft Cream Cheese Spread 500gm x 1
Kraft Peanut Butter Smooth 500gm x 1
Kraft Vegemite 400gm x 2

Free delivery and they take .11c from your bank for 46 weeks ($5.06 so hopefully the last withdrawal is only .05c)

It sucks that you can't pay in one go or have it delivered for this year but each of these are worth between $3.50-$6 roughly at the shops at full price so not a bad deal in my opinion.

-Edit - This deal is for today only and it states in the email that IP addresses will be checked, so be very careful if anyone tries to order multiples as they may try cancel your order or FAR worse they may try and hit you with the full bill which is just a crazy amount for these.

Hmm i click on the link and it is now showing as 52 dollars at $1.13 a week. now you can go back to your original thoughts on the Hamper company. 25-30 bucks worth of spreads for 52 is a rip off.

Have to apply the code at checkout

    • +1

      Put in the code…

    • +3

Like most deals with a coupon code you place the item in your basket and enter the code on the checkout page.

(I don't mean for that to sound condescending if that's the way it has come across, very difficult to put tone in to a typed message.)

A years worth of direct debits for some spreads? Pass.

    • +1

Agree, pay up front good deal but not a 52 week direct debit

      • +5

You can switch it to fortnightly or monthly but sadly you can't just pay for it.

<insert rant about how evil hamper places are for preying on those that can't afford things around Christmas>

  • +2

only bank acct direct debit, not credit card ?

BTW, they state hamper will be delivered for Christmas 2013 !

    • +1

$20 annual fee if you wish to pay with a credit card.

  • +1

Yeah, I was going to do it.. until I saw 'downtime's' post!!!
Not about to have 11c coming out every week for the next 12 months just for a couple of spreads that I don't really need anyway!!!
But a good find OP, nice and cheap!!!

  • Oh Carp I missed the code bit. Shall run off and hide in the corner now… Yep got the hat on now

  • Hampers and pokies, I feel sorry for poor people.

    • +1

      Why?

No one forces them to….we all make choices in life.

      • +1

Let me rephrase, I feel sorry for stupid people.

  • +7

The numbers say its a good deal (certainly so if you could pay upfront), but my better judgement suggests it would be really unwise to give direct debit authority to a company like this. There will be a loophole, and it will hurt.

    • +1

"There will be a loophole, and it will hurt."

Can't give that comment enough pluses.

    • If they were to take any more than either .11c per week or more than the $5.06 that I estimate 46 weeks of charges to be then I'll be straight on the phone to the ACCC.

But I completely understand where your coming from.

  • probably banking on people changing address within a year then slapping a surcharge to update the delivery address

    • There is no such surcharge in their T&C.
They just want to lure you into buying more expensive hampers with this deal, that's it.

      • "Your phone was disconnected so I'm just going to go ahead and put you down for more next year, you can thank me later"

  • +2

    Usually $52 !! What?? That's insane

  • Its not actually a "bad deal", but its whether its worth the risk/hassle of problems.

I am all for a bit of "pain" to get a good deal, for example getting BigW to price match Itunes cards when HN was doing $40 worth for $20 was "lengthy" at best.

    But worth it.

    Not sure this is though

One year, 6 years ago I bought one $150 hamper .. and I STILL get the mail! :O
