15% cashback via Cashrewards on luggage today, but this comes under computers :-(

  • I’ve got the black version and it’s pretty great. The Black version (currently $93) is water-resistant and the grey version is spill resistant. I’m guessing being water resistant is a little more resistant than only spill proof.

They both say water resistant for me in the "feature and specs" tab. They say they're made of the same material, so I'd be surprised if there is any difference.

  • Recently bought the black one and used it for a trip over the long weekend. So impressed I bought the grey one today for my partner.
    It’s fantastic for the price.

    • agreed. Bought mine right before an Europe and Asia trip. Was significantly impressed with the comfort and size. I frequently had over 10kg in the bag as budget airlines in Europe are really strict with check-in.

When not full, the straps on the side is great so you're not hauling a puffy parachute behind you.

  • Any thoughts on this versus the Patagonia MLC and/or Macpacc Quest?

    • +2

the MLC and Quest don't have a quick access pocket, or drink bottle holder. The Tomtoc has front and top quick access pockets and 2 bottle holders.

I've been considering this 42L Inateck bag, does the Tomtoc compare well?

Thanks, OP. Bought one based on all the reviews. Travelling to Europe in March with a toddler, looks like a good easy-access bag

    • Just got mine, initial feel is you wouldn't want to fill it full of heavy items (not really the point of a backpack I guess) but otherwise impressed with the layout and comfort.

      Happy travels!

Stumbled across an Anko 45L backpack when at Kmart this morning that might be an alternative to the Tomtoc for some…

    https://www.kmart.com.au/product/45l-multifunctional-backpac…

If your purpose is to use the bag as carry on, get the Tomtoc. The Anko is a few cms too tall and will be problematic if you fill the bag up fully. Most carry on luggage is around 55cm on the longest edge and the Anko is 59cm.

But if you're throwing this in the back of the car for a weekend away, the Anko might do the job at almost half the price.
