Quality Pots and Pan Set

Hi team, looking for quality pot and pan set that won’t break the bank, I see at the shopping centre huge price reduced kits but I’m not sure if they are good quality?

Would prefer stainless or something without the non stick coating? Really need a 7pcs or there about kit. Scanpan on Amazon seem ok?

IKEA have a wide range of decent quality kitchenware for decent prices.

You might also want to mention whether they have to be induction friendly or not.

    • Sorry, just you standard glass cook top not inductive

      • So, it's a new cooktop you need, not the pans (well, maybe pans too).

        • ? no i don't have any pots. looking to buy some.

@icecold27: Non inductive electric cooktops are something you will upon your enemies. Even then it's a bit harsh.

    Scanpan.

    • Returned my Ikea set for these. Harris Scarfe often have great prices on Scanpan sets.

      • How did you find ikea compared to scanpan?

        • Don't use IKEA crap mate.

          It'll warp and fail.

    • Another vote for Scanpan.

  • https://www.harrisscarfe.com.au/kitchen-dining/cookware/cook… these look good

EDIT: reviews are terrible. Copper tarnishes straight away and handles too hot

"• Copper bottom for even heat distribution" is just a marketing term. unless you're in a professional kitchen you don't need copper. and it's probably just a thin layer too, not any sort of thickness.

You'd get better heat distribution just cleaning your stove top rather than getting this

    • $150 for 5 piece set is suspiciously cheap. Even a single pan from a 'chefy' brand like All-Clad is more than that. If you're looking for quality, may need to bump your budget. The alternative is just sticking with Ikea. Their '365' sub-brand isn't bad for its price.

Go to a kitchen supply store. Nisbetts had some good deals lately, not sure if it's near you. You're probably looking for tri-ply construction.

Pick one. You pay for quality.

, I see at the shopping centre huge price reduced kits but I’m not sure if they are good quality?

Generally they are non clad and flimsier stainless steel but generally get the job done.

Really need a 7pcs or there about kit

Do you actually ? What do you need a 7 piece set for? It's like knives. 90% of home cooking can be done with a single knife and two pans and you grow from there.

Unless you are doing a lot of fancy stuff you probably don't need a super small saucepan and a super large one.

I've got a stainless steel pan from Scanpan for $80 recently (victorias basement) and it's going really well. I also picked up a deep saucepan from Skottsberg which is a little pricy but damn it's good.

    Go for quality over quantity.

    Scanpan all the way

  • Thread highjack.

I just ordered Tefal Daily Cook Induction Stainless Steel Twin Pack Fry Pans 24/28cm from Big W for $62.55

Trying to find even an explainer for what the Tefal range is seemed impossible. Where does the Tefal Daily Cook fit in the cookware market?

    • I have the daily cook 28cm and it’s warped to hell. With that said, it’s probably 3 years old now and I’ve treated it like absolute crap. Paid about $25 for it, for the use it’s got I’ve been happy.

      • I too purchased a set of tefal some time ago. I fell for how 'pretty' they look with the red circle thing on the base of the pan. Don't use the pots so much, but the frying pan is the worst thing I have ever brought into my kitchen, I loathe it.
Treated myself to a circulon earlier this year and it is infinitely better.

You're probably talking about House, which is always on sale. The discounted price IS their price, no one ever buys RRP. It's a borderline scam. I'm shocked they still manage to fool people when they're having 70-80% off sales every month.

  • For a step up in quality, but not super expensive, try the Silampos brand, from Portugal.

We bought from the Scanpan Impact range and have been more than happy with them. Nice weight and feel and clean up extremely easily.

  • I am looking for new pots for a new induction cooktop. I am wary of pots that have metal handles as i worry they will get hot. Scanpans, which appears to be best based on recommendations here, all have metal handles. Does anyone have issues where you need a cloth to hold them when just moving them around on cooktop?
