LG Microwave Warranty - Asked to Go to Service Centre in Outskirts of Sydney

I have OzBargain's favourite microwave LG Neochef.

The heating element not working. LG said they happy to over service for warranty even though it's been 2.5 years (warranty terms are 2 years).

However, the catch is the repair centre is 110 minutes away.

Firstly, that's why I switched to Amazon ages ago. Warranty returns are so simple for faulty items especially.

Either way, is there anything that can be done or just need to bite the bullet and go on the epic journey to repair centre?

Take it back to where you bought it from

    • That's goodguys. Would they honour it though? Warranty is 2 years and it's been 2.5 years

get an rma from lg. show to gg

        • Thanks for the suggestion. I've emailed LG to see if they can issue RMA

          • @bin555: If you have names etc from lg, or emails show to God guys. Otherwise lg can liaise with gg.

  • How much was the microwave? If it wasn't a cheapie then you may be covered by Australian Consumer Law, with the Good Guys responsible as they are the retailer.

    • It was $299

    Where abouts on the outskirts?

    Do you have appropriate protection?

      Do you have appropriate protection?

Trust me, a broken microwave is all the protection one needs, even in those types of areas

    • From memory it was Blacktown. Had same issue and rather than drive it out there I ended up buying a Kmart one and some guy off marketplace picked up the broken LG as he wanted parts.
Kmart one seems more powerful just not in stylish black.

  • Interesting, I took mine into The Good Guys today. It was 2 years and 4 days out of the 2 years warranty so they said they couldn’t do anything and tried to sell me a new one with an extended warranty.
I said I’d have a think about and research my options for a new one.
At the end they said they’d keep the old one to dispose of it.
I knew this absolutely wasn’t right but thinking about it tonight they’ve actually deprived me of exercising my ACL rights.
I feel like it’s going to be a hassle to sort out now. I’m not sure if them getting rid of it helps or hinders me.

Any updates on your case OP?

I just contacted to LG and they where happy to honour warranty. Only catch is really around being able to get to their service centre. They have two locations.
They simple just replace the faulty part.
