Bought a new camera lens filter the other day at Digidirect CBD store.
Unboxed it today but there were smudges on the filter, it seems to me that's been used before.
I went on their website and saw they do sell open box / preloved items. (didn't realise this before)
Checked with their website live chat, they denied it and asked me to speak to the store directly.
Just wondering if anyone else had a similar experience before?
Thanks

No- that would be too easy, then op won’t get to go on a great quest and assemble a rag tag bunch of loveable misfits as they sail the world in search for the treasure of One Piece.
The item is not new having bought from a store that sells open boxed / pre-loved items?
Having just had a look at the website, they do say there are 'digiDeals' and 'digiSeconds'. You sure you didn't select the seconds item?
I bought it in store, and I was charged for the new item price not seconds
I don't think it's uncommon for items to be handled in store and not bought. Eg. Can I please see what the lens looks like and/or if it fits etc.
As per the first reply, returning the item appears to be an appropriate solution.
True, I guess I’m just not used to checking out a product before buying lol
If it's just a smudge and not damage it's likely is new. People will often ask, or just do it, to open and inspect an item so they can actually see what it's like before buying. If you're not happy take it back otherwise just clean it and move on.
If your getting full warranty , can't see what all the fuss is about . So what if it's been handled , a lot of items are .
Take it all the way to the Prime Minister
Unboxed it
Every camera and lens I have ever bought (and I have bought and resold many), has always had a factory/tamper seal - was it intact or no?
It’s a lens filter but not sure if there’s any difference (first time buying a filter)
There were seal on the top, but not the bottom. I opened it from the bottom
Look, honestly the first thing I do when I get my camera out is use my mini rocket blower, and lens pen or micro fibre cloth…. As it’s invariably going to get a fingerprint or dirt on it eventually- but you do you, have you at tried to call the particular branch in question to ask for a swap?
I mean it could be something as simple as someone went to try it on their camera in the shop and it didn't fit so they boxed it back up again. Unless its damaged, what does it matter?
Then they should mark it as such.
Is it broken?
A few years ago, a friend of mine worked at a Digidirect but left after a couple of weeks because their finances were a mess. Dodgydirect, they call them.
They must be doing well though, they just bought out a failing Booktopia.
Return it then.
