This is wild to me. I remember as a kid it was practically impossible to buy a brand new Fender for sub-$1k. Pity I don't play anymore

When you were a kid they probably weren't made in Mexico using cheap labour.

Lol not that old mate. MiMs were still >$1k in the early '00s. Even if they were $900 then, it'd be the equivalent of ~$1,700 today. This is a steal, comparatively

      • MiM started in the 1990s

Jimmie Vaughan & Carlos Santana come to mind.

They're great guitars with a rich history.

A genuine no fuss workhorse proudly used in studios & on stage.

Alternatively, a 2nd hand Japanese Fender can be found for low $1000 every so often, and are made a whole league of their own (better than American Fenders in many cases). The issue of course is new guitarists might not know what to look our for and can get caught out with something the previous owner has abused beyond salvation.

Mexican Fenders are fantastic instruments. Both my basses are Mexican made and I'm never left wanting!

    • It is true. But I would argue nowadays you rarely find any good second-hand MIMs for under $900. My best journey was with my MIM Strat years ago. Did every possible experiment on it. I rarely play my MIJ Strat because my American Professional II feels much better in every way. For my player strat my only complaint was the unpainted tremolo cavity and Pau Ferro fingerboard. (aesthetically)

  • This is a great price but my wallet wasn't prepared for it.

  • Price is back to $999
