Preferred the Nolan movies but didn't mind this one. Pretty decent price regardless and is meant to be a solid 4K release.

Playback Region A/1 : This will not play on most Blu-ray players sold in Australia and New Zealand.

    • +11

4K blu rays are region free, have purchased a fair few from overseas and no issues with playback.

      • -5

Why the downvote? Just copy-pasted what was on the Amazon ad for people who want to be aware. You left that info out of the description.

        • +5

Didn't downvote you, but thought it wasn't necessary to include that info as plenty of other 4k deals have been posted that are US titles.

        • +7

Region coding isn’t part of the UHD standard, there’s only a small handful of 4K discs that are (incorrectly) region locked. The bluray disc might be region locked.

          • +2

@Randolph Duke: It's a Warner disc. No region coding on the Blu-ray.

    • +7

Almost every time there is an international Blu-ray and 4K Blu-ray bargain posted on OzBargain some person that isn’t very knowledgeable on the subject runs to post about them being region locked the majority of the time, when they are not. If you actually spent a little bit of time learning the studios/distributors and about their Blu-ray releases then you’d have a better understanding of which ones generally region lock their titles and which ones don’t… The Batman is a Warner Brothers title, and WB never region lock their 1080p Blu-rays.

      • True, but often 4K Blu-rays come with the regular Blu-ray as well (in this case it says it's a 3 disc set) and a lot of times extra/bonus features are on the Blu-ray only, which can often be region locked.

        • +2

@narcoleptic-haze - “Often” is false, it’s the opposite, when it’s a 3 disc set on the odd occasion the extras/bonus features disc is region locked when the accompanying 1080p Blu-ray movie disc is region free, usually the extra/bonus features disc is the same region coding as the main feature 1080p disc.

If it’s a 2 disc 4K+BD U.S. release, and the extras are on the 1080p BD only, then again, don’t just make the assumption like many on Ozbargain seem to that the 1080p disc is region A locked simply because it’s a region A release (and says region A on the back cover), when many are not locked to that region, instead learn about each studios/distributors Blu-ray releases, because generally some region lock their titles and some don’t, and this will give you a good indication on whether it’s safe to purchase and will be compatible with an Australian region B player or not.

Thanks OP, just picked up a copy.

Movie was ok, but could have had 20-30 minutes shaved off of the run time and it would have been much more palatable. That said I did get it digitally on Xbox, Apple/iTunes AND still got the physical 4K upon original release :P

    • I agree it was longer than it needed to be, but also think it is up there as being potentially the best live action batman. I think Begins is slightly better, but this makes a very close #2.

  • +8

Worth it even just for that opening scene

    • +4

The car chase scene was pretty decent as well.

      • +6

Yeahhhhh when he chases the Penguin? Speaking of which, that Penguin series is GOOD so far

    • +1

The ending scene where they part is where I cried

    • +2

The monologue as soon as Nirvana starts playing is one of my favourite scenes in a film.

  • Unco - user name checks out

    What a find.

I am not into batman stuff but this movie especially how everybody was expecting it to fail due to Robert Pattinson being a "Twilight Actor" but he said "nope on my watch".
This is such a great movie.

    Thanks OP

    • +2

      Unexpectedly good

    • +2

everybody was expecting it to fail due to Robert Pattinson being a "Twilight Actor"

Anyone thinking that hadn’t been keeping up with his career.

  • +1

    Awesome price, thanks OP!

  • Is there any diffrence with local version, as I cant remember if picked up local or not.

At this price its great bargain, but trying to justify owning US and AU version, even if it just has some extra bonus features

    • +1

      Buy now regret later :P

pointless anecdote I double dip/triple dip etc certain titles. Sometimes it's due to different extras to a previous version, sometimes just for different artwork on the cover AND sometimes because I can't find my last copy or I've forgotten if I have puchased it before.

  • -2

will this work in an Australian Bluray player though?

    • +1

As much as I hate woke trash, you clearly didn't watch this movie, it has nothing woke on it.

      • +3

Some people are told what to think, they don't actually spend the time and form their own opinion.

        • +3

Some people are told what to think

I couldn't agree more, you see this behavior everywhere.
Folks don't bother to read the whole post or watch the entire video, the title and other's comments is everything for those pony to have their conclusion based upon.

      • There was one bit where Lenny Kravitz's daughter prattles on about white male privilege

  • -5

Don't you guys know movies are free?

  • -1

Aside from some light racism blaming everything wrong in Gotham on 'white assholes' it's not a bad film.

  • +3

Can concur I've got a 70GB remux of this and it looks fantastic on an OLED

    • Something I noticed during my first watch was that the blacks were not pure blacks like you'd expect on an oled, but grey-ish. Turns out that's just an artistic choice and not a bad copy

      • Ok you’re right I do remember that, probably not the best 4K to test out an OLED

  • +1

    Cheers.

  • +1

    Grabbed it thanks.
