15,000 Qantas Points Short for Points Club Plus

Hi everyone, my membership year ends on December 31 2024, and I am only 15000 points away from Points Club Plus.

I am travelling a little bit next year, so the benefits would be nice to have, but not detrimental to my travels.
Does anyone have any cheap ways to get the additional 15000 points, rather something that would be a little bit more practical?

I currently hold 3 credit cards with different banks, so a sign up bonus would be impractical as I do not foresee any large expenses in the next few months (as well, the rest of my points are mainly from credit cards). Additionally, all my insurances are with other providers and have recently been renewed (found the Qantas offering to be reasonably poor for all cases). I do not see myself purchasing wine for points, as I am not an avid wine drinker, and really don't want to pay over $500 for these points. Green tier points also do not count towards Points Club Plus according to their website, despite a rep telling me otherwise.

I'm hoping someone may have some decent suggestions or any ideas to help me boost my points balance. I am at least in a fortunate position that I have almost 90 days to do it, so it won't be terrible.

Thank you everyone in advance

I know you can't purchase points for this purpose, but consider they're valued by Qantas at $532. Why not redeem one of the current wine offers and gift the merch or cook with it? Like this one for $396

It would roughly be around $800 for the wine to get those points, which is more than what Points Club Plus is valued at (in my opinion), and my family/friends aren't wine drinkers much unfortunately

No, you get 15,000 bonus points when you buy that $396 "Popular Mixed Red Dozen".

  • 15,000 points for switching Gas + Electricity to Red Energy. Just switch back to your cheaper provider after a month and you’re set.

    • Unfortunately the utility bill isn't in my name at the moment, which is frustrating.

  • Qantas wine… not sure if there are any bonus offers for first purchase atm, but even still should be a lot less than $800(also stack with discounted $50 voucher) + 10% off for current PC+ .

Everyday rewards new account should get that in the 90 days… or maybe someone that has banked for Christmas can transfer.

    ..

    • Thank you for the website and suggestion, it might be something to consider. I think at $50 off + 10% PC discount, it may work as a gift for someone ~ $250, which is a bit more stomach able

      • Try the code : FIRSTORDER for an extra 5000 points… Was live in September they may not have killed it yet..

        • For some reason it says I can't stack the code FIRSTORDER with the Qantas Wine Voucher

Don't forget you're getting the points as well - 15k points should be worth at least $200 to you if you are sensible in how you use them, the physical wine is just a bonus :)

Surely Woolies will run a 20x reward points on girftcsrds between now and then.

Just stock up on some cards for future use. Would only require $1500 worth of cards to be purchased.

  • If you can organise for someone to transfer 20,000 Qantas business points to you for a fee, it will count towards points plus. Try the classifieds perhaps. WIth business, you can transfer to anyone.

    • Where would you recommend I start looking for this?

  • Wine

  • Unpublished my post as I saw you mentioned having insurance sorted out already. Although this can be a cost effective way to get 100000 points. Some of the other Qantas health insurance threads discuss the way it works
