Are there any Compatible Filters for the Philips Aquaporin Reverse Osmosis Machine?

I just noticed on the Bing Lee website the product description for this product has been revised to state:

To improve the taste of RO water, our mineralization technology enhances the purified water with approx 0.2 mg/l strontium minerals (this is lower than the health reference level provided by the US Environmental Protection Agency [EPA] of 1.5 mg/l or the lifetime health advisory or 4 mg/L for strontium levels in drinking water).

The Harvey Norman site makes no mention of the strontium that is added to your water, which is sadly bordering misleading and deceptive conduct.

I also noticed on other marketing material elsewhere it states

The rich strontium technology can separate out elements that are beneficial and healthy to human body.

This suggests this is a byproduct of of the water being filtered. I know some filters introduce aluminium into the water because it is part of the filter medium and you can find stories about people taking their water to laboratories to find disappointing results.

Does anyone know of any good alternative filters for this machine or if there are other more suitable alternatives? I always wondered why this machine could not reduce the water down to lower TDS levels, with many redditors claiming it was a gimmick and therefore not real RO technology, now I know it is likely due to parts of the filter being introduced back into the water. Basically you are drinking the filter, to put it plainly.

Do you guys have better recommendations on water filters or have you had luck purchasing a compatible filter? I would like to know what you have done about it.

    Drink rain water.

  • Not sure about filters, but when we change a new filter, the water tastes like bottled mineral water for a week or so, then the "mineral" taste goes away.

  • I have this machine: https://www.philips.com.au/c-p/ADD6920BK_79/reverse-osmosis-…

Mine came with the old version of the filter which adds strontium compounds.

A new recently introduced filter adds calcium, magnesium, potassium and sodium ions. So if you are worried about the strontium, make sure you get the new version of the filter.

On the product page on the Philips website it now says:
"At the last stage in the purification process, the purified water is remineralised with calcium, magnesium, potassium and sodium ions (Ca2+, Mg2+, K+, Na+). This remineralisation process also raises the pH balance of the water to a level that is considered alkaline."
