Esatto 8kg Heat Pump Dryer EHPD800-W Lint Filter Light

Bought this heat pump recently from this deal.

Was wondering if anyone else is having the issue with their machine showing the"Clean Lint Filter" icon constantly showing when the machine is on.

I've had Appliances Online change over from my initial dryer to a new one and it's still showing this light. Was wondering if this light is normally on all the time or did I just get 2 bad machines.

Thanks for the help

Did you check the filter behind the maintenance cover?

My filter light turns on after every run, that's a normal reminder to empty it. Best to do it every time anyway.

    • Is it on after you clean the filter and before a run?

Did you try cleaning the lint filter?

    • They delivered a new one this morning and it still had that light on.

Was wondering if its always on as a reminder or actually turns on when the filter needs cleaning

Look for a glob of dust blocking the actual sensor, it's underneath the main lint filter when you pull it out. There is a secondary filter behind the service hatch at the bottom front of the machine as well.

        • The guys had a look at both filters and couldn't find anything. Didn't check the back though.

I made sure to check with them that it's not a refurbished one and they said that it wasn't

Guess just another faulty one it seems.

@thisisnotakn: My wife often forgets about second filter. I came back after a work trip and lights were on and machine refused to start spinning. The second filter was incredibly full and I needed a brush and vacuum cleaner to get to the heatsink fins behind it. I was only away for 3 weeks but I reckon my wife used the dryer lots during the winter. Never seen it so full. Glad it didn't start a fire.

            • @slick7: Thanks for the warning. I'll make sure we keep that cleaned.

  • The light per the manual is a Clean Filters (Warning) light. So shouldn't be on all the time.

The manual doesn't say much, basically clean check and clean the lint filter. If it stays on call support :/

When doing the filter clean, every few weeks give it a wash with water.

Take out the filter (is there one or two?), give them a clean/wash, put them back in.

Maybe have a look around to make sure no packaging was left anywhere if this was a new unit!?

The flap at the bottom left, unclip it and remove the cover, make sure nothing is in there too.

    Manual for you to review

    • Thanks for that. Had a technician from AO come check and say that it was a faulty sensor.

Just didn't think I'd get 2 machines with the same issue so I thought it was a reminder to clean it.

      • Might be a bad batch that AO received if you have two with the same fault. Glad you're getting it sorted.

        • They've been pretty good about taking the old one and replacing with a new one.

Pretty happy with their customer service at the moment.

  • So I got my 3rd dryer today and the delivery man said it's normal for that light to be on all the time.

Just wanted to confirm with someone before I go for a 4th one or get a different model.

Does that clean lint filter light stays on permanently when you switch the dryer on and goes away when the dryer is running?

    • Thanks for the post. Im facing the same issue and contacted AO who has passed me to Essato support. Problem has yet to be remedied. For me the clean filter light flashes when turned on, then stays on then disappears when machine starts running. Is that the same for you?

Did your clean filter light stay on before you even run the new dryer?

With both 2nd and 3rd dryer, the delivery guys had to switch it on to check if it's installed properly.

I made sure to check if the light was on both 2nd and 3rd time - which they were (this is brand new out of the box, turned on by delivery person)

2nd delivery person said it wasn't normal and started a replacement right there on the spot with AO

3rd delivery person said it "should" always be on before running a cycle as a reminder to clean it. He also mentioned you need some sort of attachment for the bottom left filter to make the light not stay on.

Both times I have opened/pulled out the filter to make sure the units were not refurbished and had crap in the filters.

Both times the delivery people confirmed they were cleaned and not refurbished.

The light doesn't blink and goes away when the dryer is running.

So now I'm at a lost on if I should:
        1. Persue a 4th replacement
        2. Live with the light permanently on (machine works properly)
        3. Get completely different dryer

Can you let me know what Esatto themselves are saying.

Did they not replace your machine at all?

        • Technician (engaged by Essato) visited today and said it's the third time he's seen this. He checked the filters and the back of the machine, then concluded he'll install a new board and sensor, as he didnt think replacing the machine will resolve the issue (maybe due to me telling him lint filter light was on before i even ran the machine).

Looking at your recent comments, its weird that the advice from Essato is inconsistent (i.e. being ok with the lint filter light being on).

          • @nocrocks: The person I spoke to on the phone from Essato wasn't sure about it themselves and said they'd had to ask the manufacturer.

Came back and said that it was normal to have it on all the time.

Did replacing the sensor actually help?

            • @thisisnotakn: Thats more assuring, cheers.

I assume it will take a week or two before thats done. Will update this post then.

            • @thisisnotakn: Essato overided the technicians recommendation and issued a replacement machine instead.

Delivered today but same issue - lint filter light flashes upon turning on for the first time then stays on. The lint filter light disappears when machine is running. Back to square one.

On a different note, i find a lot of lint bypasses the main filter and accumulates on the cooling fins. Seems like poor design. Are any of you facing the same issue? Im considering putting a removable fine mesh between the main filter and the cooling fins to ease maintenance.

              • @nocrocks: So weird how they're saying it's normal but still insist on replacing the unit.

I've noticed that the bottom filter does get rather dirty quick. Pretty annoying, but I guess you get what you pay for

  • I have confirmed with esatto that the light shouldn't be on all the time.

Have asked AO for my 4th machine.

    Good luck me

    • I'm going through same at the moment, yesterday AO person (not technician) came to do initial check and said clean lint filter indicator should not be on when machine is turned on and asked me to contact AO to get the replacement. So I'm going to ask for the replacement (light does not bother me much though, in fact its a reminder to clean the filter). I have doubt though if any number replacement will fix this issue, I don't see any sensor under the lint filter or on the side that can sense the actual lint accumulated in the filter. Will see how the replacement goes but if if it doesn't work then i won't ask for another replacement.. Good luck with your 4th machine, update how you go.. cheers

  • So I've got my 4th replacement machine from AO just yesterday.

Light still comes on before cycle begins.
Delivery driver said it was weird.

I have contacted esatto and they have told me that this is apparently normal, as it is a reminder to clean the filter.

I will now just keep this machine as there doesn't seem to be much point doing a 5th replacement.

Hopefully this helps some people out.

    • Same here, I got the replacement yesterday and light was on as soon as machine was turned on for the first time by driver.. Delivery driver spent lot of time look at issue and searching online, at the end he said get the refund or exchange it with other model/brand.. I'm keeping this dryer though..Lint filter seems to accumulate lot of lint though after every run, so it needs to be cleaned everytime right after cycle is finished before lint hardens.. not sure if all dryers are like this ie accumulates lot of lint and needs to clean it after every use, this is our first dryer so no idea if this is normal..

  • Hey Mate, I am facing the same issue. Just got the machine delivered, turned on the machine and see the clean lint filter warning.
Read through the chat and it seems like common issue. What are your current recommendations? Use it with the lint filter on?

Update : AO rep was also aware of the issue and mentioned he could get this replaced or I could choose a different model.
I was looking and could only see Onix 8kg for a similar price. https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/product/onix-8kg-heat-pu…

    • We decided to just keep it.
Thinking as long as the light doesn't come on during a cycle it should be ok.
