OnePlus 12R 5G 256GB/16GB RAM Blue Dual Sim Global Version CPH2609 Best Option?

Just looking at a sub $1000 android phone.
Will do some gaming and basic operations, camera ability is not the most important feature.
Is the Oneplus 12R the best option.
Other considerations were Pixel 8A, Motorola Edge 50 Pro, Samsung A55.

Cheers

  • Yes the best option if compared with Pixel 8A, Motorola Edge 50 Pro, or Samsung A55. Personally I won't choose Pixel 8A or Samsung A55 because of the processor and charging speed.

Which network do you use? Vodafone, Optus, or Telstra? Which sim card? Oneplus is not in Vodafone approved list, but 3G Vodafone doesn't exist anymore and no problem with phone calls. I don't know after this month. Optus network may give warning during phone calls. Boost Mobile (Telstra) maybe still good for phone calls (no warning), not sure after this month because of the 3G shutdown issue that may affect a lot of devices. I haven't tried Telstra sim card.

I use OnePlus Nord CE3 Lite 5G. That's why my comment is based on my personal experience with all 3 networks.

The 12R 256GB/16GB RAM could be purchased around $850 or under. You can check price comparison from google too. Through Kogan (third party seller in Au) is $850, from Spectronic $845, or from Skyphonez $834 for example.

    • Any problems with using GApps on the new global onepluses?

      • No problem in my OnePlus Nord CE3 Lite 5G

  • I got this with one of the AliExpress coupon deals from here. Phones been great, just make sure you get the global version. I don't get any network closing texts, I'm on Telstra. Battery life and the fast charging have been awesome.

  • Hey, buy the OnePlus "global" version rather than a product made for Australia specifically.

Live an interesting life. Expect that in a year or two, or maybe even as early as in a couple of weeks, that it won't work on one or more Australian carriers networks, and when 4G shuts down it doesn't work at all.

That's my experience with a OnePlus "global" phone. Great piece of equipment. But junk long before its time because its not made for Australia.

  • I use Boost mobile, it does seem the Oneplus 12R global version CPH2609 is VoLTE enabled and can use Boost (Telstra) band 28 for coverage on 4G.
By the way are there any Xiaomi competitors at this price point?
