Is this the same one from this deal?
It's confusing that there are so many "Ultimate" 8Bitdo controllers

    • +1

Yes same model. Best for switch and PC/steam user. Use Bluetooth for switch and the 2.4g dongle for PC. Perfect

    • +3

Just look at the ABXY button layout.

This one appears to be the bluetooth model.

    • The best is the Super Duper Ultimate Deluxe Ultra Pro V2 RGB Edition.

      • Forgot 'Max'.

Btw, 8bitdo Ultimate's bluetooth mode is different to their other bluetooth-only models.

This one can only support Switch-mode bluetooth. It doesn't work well with Android.

If you want hall joysticks and triggers but with good compatibility in bluetooth, get Gulikit KingKong Pro 2 or 3 instead.

    • +1

Thank you, that is very important information. The Bluetooth of this controller only supports Switch.

    • OK so bluetooth connection won't work on laptops? Such a pity, don't have spare port already …

      • +1

It will work via Bluetooth. Pc recognized it as pro controller.

  • Does this have hall effect joysticks and the other general improvements that the 2C has? Or is this more in line hardware-wise with the older Ultimate C?

    • Ultimate 2.4ghz has HE joysticks (not triggers).

      • +3

Ok the naming scheme is confusing. When you say ultimate 2.4ghz, does that mean ultimate C?

Does this controller have hall effect triggers? Does this controller have gyro controls for the switch?
Is the gyro control usable for PC if it does have one?

8bitdo really needs to stop naming all their controllers “ultimate”.

        • This controller (the deal) has gyro for the switch, vibration, hall effect joysticks.

Best to ask in numbered forms so i can answer you easily.

          Havent tested gyro on pc.

I have not much info about Ultimate C.

In my understanding there are three classes (best to worst):

Ultimate 2.4 ghz + Bluetooth (HE joysticks)
          Ultimate C (2.4ghz only)
          Ultimate bluetooth

No 8bitdo controllers come with HE triggers. If you want that, get Gulikit Kingkong Pro 3 (2.4ghz, HE trigger, HE joysticks).

Gulikit Kingkong Pro 2 comes with HE trigger, HE joysticks but Bluetooth only.

    • This is the first gen ultimate, hall effect yes. Other improvements no idea. I received mine from Amazon deal, so far happy with it. I think that's enough.

      • First gen ultimate that is Bluetooth-only doesn't have HE joysticks.

        • First gen ultimate that is Bluetooth-only doesn't have HE joysticks.

You're thinking of the original 2.4G version of the Ultimate, which had the ALPS sticks.

The Bluetooth/Switch version of the Ultimate always had Hall Effect sticks.
That was in fact one of its main selling points, and why there was originally so much confusion about there being another "8BitDo Ultimate" controller that didn't have Hall Effect sticks.

It's the 2.4G version that now has a newer revision that includes Hall Effect sticks, where its first gen didn't.
          See comparison image.

        • first gen bluetooth has HE, 2.4g doesn't

Does this have hall effect joysticks and the other general improvements that the 2C has? Or is this more in line hardware-wise with the older Ultimate C?

The 8BitDo Ultimate controllers has 3 main product lines:

      • 8BitDo Ultimate Bluetooth - This was the flagship product, with Hall Effect joysticks and Switch connectivity.
      • 8BitDo Ultimate 2.4G - This was the cut-down version of the Ultimate, losing the Hall Effect sticks.
      • 8BitDo Ultimate C - This was the further cut-down version of Ultimate, which along with not having HE sticks, also removed the back buttons on the underside of the controller.

The 2.4G got a newer revision that included Hall Effect joysticks.
The 2C is the successor of C that included Hall Effect joysticks, and added extra shoulder buttons as replacements for the missing back buttons.

have to say, 8bitdo really needs to think about their naming strategy.

      • I remember that the easiest way to know:

BUY the one with the Nintendo button layout. That is the superior one.

  • No white version?

  • Thanks op. Price matched and $10 perks voucher at JB.

  • Has anyone tried connecting these to a Mac?
