25000 Bonus Points on Select Wines (e.g. 12 Yalumba Cab Sauv 2017 $480) @ Qantas Wine

330

Get ready to drink, and score 25,000 bonus points for doing so!?
Here’s why this is an incredible value: (Even if you don't drink)
The Deal: Blue Pyrenees Premium Red Six Bottles
• Cost of Wine: $450
• Bonus Points: 25,000
• Points per Dollar: 55.56
• Cents per Point: 1.80
My benchmark for points is 1.8 cents. If I can accumulate points for less, I typically will, and I’ll redeem them for greater value.
But wait, we can sweeten this deal even more…
If you have a Qantas Wine Voucher and are a member of Qantas Points Club Plus, you can take $50 off (the voucher is free with Points Club Plus).
Plus, Points Club Plus members enjoy 10% off Qantas wines!
This means:
• New Cost of Wine: $355
• Bonus Points: 25,000
• Points per Dollar: 70.42
• Cents per Point: 1.42
And there’s more!
Points Club Plus members earn 3x points on wine, adding an extra 1,065 points.
Total Points: 26,065
New Cents per Point Cost: 1.36
Bottom Line: You’re effectively buying points at 1.36 cents each—a fantastic opportunity to redeem for much more value.
Plus, you get “free” wine—who doesn’t love that?

A lot of the wines on Qantas come at inflated prices.

Some of them are decently priced, some of them are excessively overpriced (and either cheaper elsewhere, or simply not available elsewhere)

You can definitely get some good deals, but it's important to do some research first. The value of the bonus points can be significantly diminished if you're just overpaying for wine.

When you're calculating the cost to acquire points in the low to mid 1.xx cents per point. The point isn't the wine but rather the points, the wine is just a bonus.

    • +6

The wine is being valued at 0 in these calculations so it’s irrelevant, but always important to remember your point, as people do get carried away.

Also you might be able to gift the wine to staff or suppliers or customers and tax deduct it, making the c/point nearly half!

In the case of the Yalumba, it had a 4.1 rating on Vivino and worth $25-30 a bottle. If it was $20 a bottle it’d be a deal with zero points attached.

So at $40 a bottle it’s overpriced, but the points more than make up for it.

One way direct from East coast to Perth can be roughly $500 or 18k point, so yes, a free box of wine for your flight!

Any reviews on how these taste?

Have 2 bottles in one night and you won't care.

  • Do the amex cashback deals work on Qantas Wine?

    • Got the same question but I just bought it anyway. Amex deal is expiring in 2 days, and this deal is not too bad.

  • +4

Still expensive for me, my maximum value for one point buying wine is 1.3 cents

  • Qantas Wine also has a 5000 bonus points for new wine customers but looks like cant combine and lose ability to use in future purchasers;

  • Can you combine with multiple $50 Qantas wine vouchers?

    • No

    • Needs to also come with a box of wine worth $450 as per this deal.

      • +1

Oh I misunderstood. Thought the wine is just a bonus

  • I still haven't done my first wine purchase. Hopefully it stacks with the extra 5000 points deal.

Edit: The promo code works; you get the bonus 5k later.

    • What is the promo code?

      • +1

Code is FIRSTORDER on your first order over $99

        • Yeah but you don’t get the 25000 points according to a few posts above it seems-

cannot be used with any other offer

          • @Spizz: It says I will according to the checkout; "you will get 26,350"; I have quantas points club too. I took a screenshot if I need to dispute for later.

So just to be clear, the overall mindset to take on is, you're buying points - the wine is free?

    • Yep.
Obviously cycling credit cards is still usually a better earn rate but if you drink wine and will buy wine in the future regardless, might as well do this.

      • -1

Don't drink and spending that amount on a gift is a bit much lol

      • If anyone wants cheap wine, hit me up, I'll get it and sell ya at a discount haha

    • "Yes the sex is free, the heather's a pound"

  • Mount Pleasant OP&OH, when combined with a $50 voucher, is an OK deal. It’s a wine you can easily gift to others and 12k points in the pocket.

  • "Exclusive premium shiraz dozen" is decent value doing the above too for 12 bottles.

You used to be able to get 5000 Qantas points on your first order if you called Qantas wine and spent $300+ on your first order and quoted another Qantas member number…. if someone wants to try with my QFF, drop me a DM

  • anyway, the sort by bonus points?
