After a decade of ignoring these products, I am finally getting around to trying them. Good to know that sales happen often

Get one with a timer. Get one with a force sensor. That's all you need.
Ever since I bought an electric toothbrush and used it twice a day I haven't needed a clean at the dentist. I go, get the checkup and he goes "cleaning not needed, good job, see you next year".
        They work really well.

the force sensing models (4-digits?) also have a Li-Ion battery, compared to NiMh in the entry level models. They last a lot longer on a single charge and the batteries don't degrade as quickly.

          • @Gdsamp: Pls suggest a model. I'm currently using the entry level version of electric Oral B.

@Utsav23: Get the 2000…2500 or 3000…anything with the lithium ion battery and don't have Bluetooth gimmick..

              • @zbmat: Thanks for the suggestion. Sure 😁

              • +1

@zbmat: How about Smart 4 4000 Electric Toothbrush from Oral B? Its currently $69 at Shavershop.

              • @zbmat: Is the 1500x comparable?

            • +1

@Utsav23: Consider upgrading to iO6 or higher

  • Philips and Xiaomi Electric Toothbrushs are better. I tried them all, even cheap stuff from Aliexpress. Oral-B not worth its price, and barely worthwhile even for half price.

I switched to Oral-B after my 7 year old Philips Sonicare finally died. I find Oral-B (specifically the cross-action brushes) better at removing stuff stuck between my teeth.

I’ve been through 2 Phillips while all my oral B are still going. They end up with the same issue- the head attachment seems to come loose and start vibrating around without moving the actual head as much.

Meanwhile my oral B batteries start to die and can barely get 3-4 cleans, but they still work overall.

Moving back to oral B now.
Philips lasted me about 3 years and 2 years.

      • That issue with the head attachment seems to come loose is common for all made by this principles. There are easy fixes and workarounds, other than just buying a new head.

  • Okay so to the e-brushing elitists out there is this worth it for a first timer? Ozzster says it's trash anyone think we should wait. Currently using traditional toothbrush. What is the depreciation on these? Seems the price keeps dropping each year rapidly. Aha but for real is it worth it?

    • +3

Yeah it is. Grab one with a force sensor, and then just ride the line of the sensor. You quickly get used to how much to push. It would be very very hard to get an equivalent clean with a manual toothbrush.
So, grab the 2000 or 3000, or 2500x from Woolworths ($75).

      • +3

Agreed on all points. Further adding I got the 2500x a few weeks ago from chemise warehouse when it was discounted at Coles, but still $119 at cw. Since they have to beat the difference by 10%, I got a final price of around $70

      • thanks grabbed the 2500x hope u get some profits on sale. $74.99 chemist warehouse they have price beaten now

        • Lmao no money coming my way, just one of those things I like to talk people into because I wish I'd done it earlier myself. The pressure sensor is worth it so you know the perfect amount to press.

Waiting on the brush heads to be on special

The 700 and 500 is pretty much the same toothbrush.

If you don't want to pay for L-ion, these are very good value. Unlike the 100 and Vitality versions, they have charging indicator so you know when to take it off charge. Run until flat, fully recharge - they last a long, long time.
