Did you accept the updated pricing? My notice said accept or we will cancel your account.

    Action needed

To keep your Premium benefits, you will need to accept the new price by clicking the button below and clicking ‘Agree to price’ on the following screen. If you take no action by October 3, 2024, your subscription will end before the new price takes effect.

    • Damn I didn't. Just went back to that email and saw the 'agree to price' button.
When I click it now it goes to YouTube and times out.
Potentially everyone who has been thrown out this week is because of that….

  • I just got the email also. Any other workarounds?

    • +1

If you only use on Android devices (phone,TV etc) then there's a few workarounds that can be side loaded. And they are free.

  • If they do this to me I'll just cancel and start using things like YouTube revanced.

The subscription isn't worth more than $2-3 a month at end of day.

  • Me too

  • yep revance on samsung phone and something beta on samsung tv
    cant stand the ads…..

    • Revanced had these google ads too

  • Were you using gift cards or a credit card ?

    • I pay for mine with Bankwest credit card

  • Godspeed

  • Had to resub using Chile via Revolut
Turkey, india etc wouldnt work for me..
    Nigeria is the go apparently.

Mine got cancelled today after paying for three years in Argentina. Asking $42 per month for a family account. Too much. Just installed this in my Chromecast.
    Zero ads.

    Received today YouTube argentina

YouTube Premium memberships based in Argentina require a form of payment issued in Argentina.

To maintain your membership, please update your form of payment to one issued in Argentina before November 14, 2024. If you do not update your form of payment, your membership will not renew automatically, and you will lose access to your YouTube Premium benefits.

I got to same email - same date as well..
At least we have time to suss out what we are doing.

I find it a strange business practice for YT to do this - atm they are still getting money out of us but there are so many other easy ways to skip the ads for free.

      • Mine gets cancelled on the 1st of November. I have a spare iPhone logged in with a Turkish Apple ID and loaded up with Turkish Apple gift cards, currently paying for Google One, OneDrive and Disney+, so I'll report back in if I can sign up for YT Premium through the App Store.

        • do you have a link to the turkish apple gift cards?

        • @chet - any update here, did you get it working through Turkey App store sub?

          • +1

@rev0: @rev0 - oops, forgot to circle back to this.

I cancelled the original Turkish Family sub through the website, then was given the option to sign up to Premium on my phone through the YouTube app. Chose the family one and it works exactly the same.

            Here's my current subscription page.

            • @chet: I just did this. Thanks!

Now to explore what else I can do like this

              • +1

@isthisreallife22: @isthisreally_me - not sure why the imgur image of what I get with it got deleted, but here it is again..

Apparently they're removing the Disney Plus subscription option unfortunately. But I think the value on the 2TB Google One storage, and the OneDrive account for a family is huge. There are some have a global value to it though, like ChatGPT Plus.

                • @chet: @chet - super helpful, thanks. The email I received said my YT Premium will get cancelled next week unless I update to a form of payment issued in Turkey. So should I just cancel before then, and re-sub to YT Premium through the Turkey App Store?

                  • @rev0: @rev0 - mine was scheduled to automatically cancel on the 1st of November, but I cancelled before then and signed up through the app right after, so it's up to you, but I did it to be sure that it wouldn't get interrupted.

                    • @chet: Family members need a Turkey iOS account?

                      • +1

@rickb: @rickb - Nope, they just need to be included in the Google family group. Since you're changing your Google country for the one signing up, no Turkish address/payment profile/payment method is needed. Just the gift cards to keep the Turkish Apple account topped up.

                        • @chet: from what I can see I dont even think that Google can see that you're using a turkey ios account, it's just that it's funded via ios subscription

                    • @chet: @chet - thanks for the info. Interestingly, I received a payment increase notice today (to take effect the billing month after it's scheduled to cancel). So I might wait to see if they keep me on at the higher price, and if I do get cancelled then I'll switch to the App store method.

      • I got cancelled even I had agreed to the price change. I had also tried VPN to India to renew the subscription and got the "cannot verity your country'. Now I am using the Turkish Apple gift card method with double the new price in India.

Not only they are trying to prevent the cross-border subscription (VPN), they have removed/disabled some of the popular ad blockers on Chrome and Youtube as well. So greedy.

        • I received the dreaded email from YT today. Currently I pay via Turkey using an Australian credit card. Did the Turkish Apple gift card method work for you? Did you have to create a new YT account or where you able to transfer it across?

          • +1

@ytm: Currently I am using the Turkish Apple gift card method for iCloud & YT. No new YT account is required, just log in with your Turkey AppleID and subscribe on your Apple device.

Apple gets a small bite (~30%) from all the purchases and subscriptions via their appstore/platform, hence this method is more expensive than the credit card subscription method.

          • @ytm: @ytm - i'm in exact same boat as you. Did the switch to subscription via Turkey app store work for you without issue?

    • +1

Yes same. Today I received the same message but for Turkey. Is there a solution to this?

    • Have just got this one for turkey :(

    • Can we use Wise and purchase Turkish Lira and use it as payment method tho?

    • I got the same email from Premium based on Pakistan

  • Any one tried virtual credit cards?

    • The only one I found is gpaynow, but that looks pretty dodgy

      • Found gpaynow as well. Not sure what to make out of a minimum USD spend on the card from $100 to $200. No reviews online.

  • Me too…. Been a good few years. Guess the jig is up!

I resolved my Turkey YouTube premium the following way:

    1) Open an ininal account at ininal.com. there's a bit of work and involves sending them a photo of yourself holding your passport, but eventually you can get it done.
    2) install mobile app, change language to English and create a virtual debit card
    3) install Remitly on your phone and send money into your ininal debit card. If you are looking at individual YouTube account you can just send 600 TRL roughly 28 bucks. If you are looking at the family plan send roughly 1500 TRL which should suffice for a while year
    4) using a VPN connect to Turkey. I suggest to use this free VPN : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.secure.hot…
Nordvpn doesn't work well for this.
    5) open an incognito window in your browser. Log in into YouTube.com. openg Google (still in incognito) and search for "YouTube premium". Click on that and it should bring you to the page where you can select the type of subscription. Select the one you want.
    6) input your ininal card details and sctivat your subscription.
    7) that's it, close the incognito window, disconnect the von and open yout YouTube app on your phone, which should now say "Premium".

    • So weird. That Turkish VPN I linked was working perfectly yesterday and I could activate 2 different accounts with it, on 2 different phones and on from 2 different countries. Today when I try, it keeps saying "we couldn't verify your country" or "this offer is not available". Plus when you search 'YouTube premium" on Google it seems to show prices in dollar, which means the VPN is somewhat failing to hide the real location. Need to look for a better VPN I guess.

    • @liongalahad
I am using the same vpn app you recommended but all i get when i navigate to youtube.com/premium is "youtube premium is not available in your country".
I wonder if they have temporarily completely disabled new signups for premium in Turkey
Is your account still going ok? I saw another ozbargainer mention that he signed up for Pakistan YTP and was using a Pakistan issued card, and google STILL detected and then cancelled his subscription within one month !!

      • +1

I have done this 3 days ago for a friend and it worked. I connected to Istanbul 07 and worked fine, showing the prices in TYR and I could activate my friends account. Seems like sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. If you are not having luck try again in a few days. Make sure your subscription to premium has been cancelled before trying this.
I would suggest if you don't want issues, to do a personal premium account and pay the whole year upfront. This way you won't have any issues fir at least 12 months.
I'm with family subscription so I guess I'll cross my fingers that nothing happens.

        • thanks for your reply @liongalahad - i appreciate your advice. Ok thats interesting to know re: the turkey vpn app. maybe the app periodically rotates its servers or IPs and i just got unlucky. I checked each one and got a mixture of "this offer is not available" and "YTP is not available in your country".
I was just using a browser on an old samsung tablet - switching through each VPN server and then navigating to youtube.com/premium - is that how you got it to appear for your friend?
Oh and I wasnt signed in to any google/YT account at all at that time. maybe that could also have something to do with it?
I wasnt aware that there was a 12 month family option - that does seem like a good one - perhaps you should purchase that to safeguard your access?

          • +1

@RobLive7: No there's no 12 month family option, only individual, that's why I said I'll cross my fingers, because I'm month by month. I was suggesting, if you can, to simply do the single YouTube premium because allows you to do 12 months which will give you peace of mind

If you scroll up to my second comment I had the same issue as you few weeks ago. Then I tried a few days ago and it was fine. I really don't know why.

            What I did was:
            1) uninstall or disable the YouTube app
            2) Turn vpn on
            3) open browser
            4) search "YouTube premium" on Google
            5) click on the link that prompts you to try YouTube premium
            6) check that prices are shown in TRY
            7) Select YouTube premium family
            8) Log into YouTube (don't need to do it if you are already logged in in your browser)
            9) add payment method, your Turkish card
            10) subscribe to YouTube premium

If you see prices in dollars then it means Google/YouTube are catching your VPN. Try more times, as I said it wasn't working until it worked again.

    • Hey not sure what OS/device you used but I found the android app by default displays in Turkish & I couldnt find any way to change to different language, however then I tried using the iOS app & that displayed in english by default.

Also is there any other ways beside Remitly to top up the Ininal account? Just given the rate all these work arounds are getting shutdown lately I want to test the waters for a few months so only want to load a small amount on & remitly's fee's are pretty steep (steep for what they actually do when compared to similar services)

      • Im on android, which by defualut shows the app in Turkish. There is the option to change the langage in the app settings.
Remitly is the one I got it to work, you could try Wise or Revolut. It's $5 per transaction, with the first two transactions, I believe, being free (cant remember exactly now).
I would suggest to send a large amount. There is always a risk, but I think chances this method will get cracked down are low as we are using a Turkish card. The only thing that could really happen is that at some point you'll need to VPN to Turkey to use YT premium , however I dont think this will happen anytime soon. After these recent changes thay made it s so tricky to subscribe to overseas YT premium that I dont think many peopl ewill keep doing it. Maybe 10%, compared to before. I don't think they will be going after those few people left (hopefully)

  • My Turkey account is now dead as well. Surely there is another way to not get ripped off? There isn't even a family option in Australia.

    • There isn't even a family option in Australia.

There is, it is $32.99 per month.

I'm on Algeria which is DZD 1,549.00 for family = ~$17.58 AUD. Not as good as Argentina, Turkey, India, Mexico etc but better than the $33 they wanna charge for Australia.

      • Strange because when I type "buy YouTube Premium" in google search I get no option for a family plan?

        • why are you typing that in google…?

          https://www.youtube.com/premium

          • @CodeXD: I was on a PC not my phone and there was no option for family.

Anyway, there's no way I'm paying that much simply to remove ads (I do not use the music service and only watch YouTube).

    • Refer to my comments above with instructions on how I got it to work and are still enjoying YouTube Turkey.

I don’t know why I have to keep posting this but you can subscribe in Turkish iTunes. Why is everyone pulling their hair out?

    • +2

Because not everyone has apple device to sign up

      • -3

Android depreciation is never a bargain.

  • got a price increase email but it said it will be reflected in December billing. No accept buttons
