Summarise Any Web Page (Article) with Tldrx.me

This website using AI to summarise the content of a webpage (a long article).

You don’t have to copy-paste the content to the website. When reading news, just appending tldrx.me in front of URL.

For example:
When you read https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-10-02/negative-gearing-what…
edit the address to
tldrx.me/https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-10-02/negative-gearing-what-will-albanese-and-chalmers-do/104419190

For more convenient, you can also install iOS shortcut or Chrome Extension from the homepage https://tldrx.me

I build it for fun so ask me anything if you are interested.

    I just tried: tldrx.me/https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/869332
Looks like their version might be slightly longer.

The article discusses a website called Tldrx.me, which uses AI to summarize webpage content, eliminating the need for users to copy and paste text. Users can simply append "tldrx.me" before any URL to get a summary. For example, changing the URL "https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-10-02/negative-gearing-what-will-albanese-and-chalmers-do/104419190" to "tldrx.me/https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-10-02/negative-gearing-what-will-albanese-and-chalmers-do/104419190" provides a concise summary of the content. Additionally, users can install an iOS shortcut or Chrome extension for easier access. The creator invites questions about the tool.

thanks for report. The issue will not be fixed 😁

  • Good project but it's not working for ozb posts looks like

    Should Negative Gearing Be Abolished?

The article discusses the evolution of the baby bonus scheme, which has been transformed into the Parental Leave Pay system. Originally, the scheme provided a one-time payment of $5,000 when a child was born; however, it has now been enhanced to provide weekly payments of $915.80 for 22 weeks, with plans to extend this to 26 weeks. This results in a total of approximately $20,147.60 or $23,810.80 for new parents, significantly increasing the support provided compared to the past. The article argues that this change should be celebrated as a successful policy, emphasizing that it offers meaningful financial support to new families, promoting a more stable start for newborns rather than encouraging short-term spending.

    • yeah, the intention is to summarise long articles, not to summarise conversation in forum type website. I will see if I can add this feature in next release.

      • Fair point to limit features but if you're excluding forums, be explicit about it. Otherwise people will get a poor first impression when use it against ozbargain, whirlpool, etc.

Probably very difficult, and not that useful, to summarise forum discussions

          • @prhino: We are agreeing, I just wanted the tool to be cllear that forum posts won't be summarised. Better than giving an incorrect summary.

            • @soan papdi: I updated the title to describe the function of website more correctly. I think forum posts summarise is a valid pain point because yesterday I came across the reddit thread with 900 comments and I want to know what people talking about new iOS 18.1 beta without reading 900 comments 😂.

What's the business model here? LLM api's aren't free. Is it doing some kind of ads/tracking?

    • I build it for fun so ask me anything if you are interested.

      • LLM api's aren't free.

        • Till Oct 31, OpenAI is giving out 1m tokens per day per organisation to promote GPT-4o. Even without that, LLM pricing has been on a downward slide for the last year. Maybe OP even has a small budget set aside.

          https://openai.com/api/pricing/

          • @soan papdi: yeah, gpt-4o is pretty cheap. With the amount of users on this project, it costs me like $10 over 6 months, not as much as useless stuff I bought from Ozbargain because of buy now think later.

    • Knowing what articles to get your other AI to write is a pretty good business model.

  • It would be good if you could enable the user to set the summary length (number of characters or words)

    • noted, I will add this feature to backlog.
