Best Tool for Cutting 32mm PVC Conduits (3mm Thickness)

Hey guys, looking for some DIY advice here.

I need to cut the bell ends of the following conduits so that 32mm end caps (APPRC32OR) can be attached.

Outer Diameter = 32mm
Inner Diameter = 26mm
Thickness = 3mm

I had a look through reviews of the relevant PVC pipe cutters on Bunnings.

This one has the best reviews, and will cut up to 38mm OD.

Or, should I just use an angle grinder with a cutting disc?

I use an Angle Grinder, I find it to be easiest way. Even doing C channel conduit, I use an angle grinder. So sick of stuffing around with other tools and having the effort required.

A $1 saw from the reject shop will do it with ease. You don't need anything special.

A 50¢ sheet of sandpaper will help you smooth out any burrs.

What you've linked is for cutting soft pipe like irrigation tube. For occasional cutting at home, I use whatever is closest to hand. Angle grinder, multi tool, reciprocating saw, hacksaw. I wouldn't buy a specialist tool unless you are doing it very regularly.

This will make it a piece of piss.

    • They're for metal pipe. Probably work on PVC but much slower than most other methods.

seek a Dr for that sort of surgery….

You dont need a special tool. Either a multi tool, hacksaw or a wood saw. PVC is easy to cut.

Just get a cheap mitre box and work your arms out (hacksaw with coarse blade 18TPI ). Less noise, more meditation. Not like you're running a length of PVC across Australia. You are over thinking it.And a bit off on the angle (however you cut the pipe) shouldn't affect end cap fitment.

Just make sure it will do 3mm wall thickness.

    • Thank you. I will double check the wall thickness.

      • What's the obsession with a special purpose tool that seems, to me at least, you'll never use again?

You seem to be making a basic task of trimming conduit very very complicated.

The cut doesn't even need to be perfectly square. The caps will cover any imperfections in your cut.

Source: I've been trimming 32mm HD conduit for years for various diy projects.

        • The cut doesn't even need to be perfectly square. The caps will cover any imperfections in your cut.

I would use a $1 hacksaw (along with a mitre box) if there was room for maneuvering.
And I don't have the time to dig up the conduits just to cut the ends.
