Anyone Tried Cheap Portable Hard Drives from Amazon?

Noticed you can get 2TB drive for $55

2TB External Hard Drive-USB 3.0 Portable HDD Ultra Slim External Hard Drive 5Gbps High Speed Hard Drive-SSD External Hard Drive for PC, Laptop (Not for The Game Drive)

Just curious if anyone has experience with these?

I've had branded ones fail all the time.

    Don't do it man.

Samsung T7 drives are my preferred externals, they're fast and haven't had one fail on me yet.

You will 100% not get 100% of 2TB.

There are many things to go cheap on to save money but data storage is not one of them…

Bit of a risky one based on those downvotes. Hope you've done your research into that specific model.

      • Yeah. It's ok. It's temporary data. I'll take the risk. I expect it should have solid warranty

Hard drives and SSD's, if it's not one of the big name brands, don't do it. I've thrown money away too often on this.

If it looks like it's a big name brand but the price is too good to be true, that's because it is.

  • hdd and cheap are not meant to be on the same sentence unless you are storing linux distros only
