  a game I have always dreamed of is a coop tactical turn based rpg. why doesn't this exist?

    Could always jam coop in manually into an existing tactical turn based RPG by dividing up your characters between yourself and your coop partner and having each person make the decisions on what they assign as attribute points / equipment and what moves they make in battles.

    Can even be accomplished over a remote session with screen sharing and control sharing. Clunky, but it's something.

    Wasteland 3 is one of the few I know of, maybe check it out if keen.

    Arguably the most famous game this year is Baulders Gate 3, which would fit this bill.

    As mentioned already, Divinity Original Sin 1 and 2, made by the same team as BG3 are excellent.

    Wasteland 3 is a more gritty world but might be what you're looking for.

    Different style again but Wargroove is a fun game inspired by Advance Wars and has a whole coop campaign. They have a sequel but I haven't played it.

    And Gloomhaven, based on the old TTRPG of the same name is another great coop pick.

      I have played all of these and enjoyed them all. I don't know how I overlooked such glaring examples as BG3 or DOS1/2 - I guess I was picturing more a FF Tactics/Ogre Battle style game

      I didn't realise Wargroove had a coop mode, I'll have to check it out again

        I think there is a lack of the FF Tactics style turn based games with coop. Considering how niche tactics games are, I assume the market is ultra niche.

        Funny enough, the old Tactics remaster on PSP had a bunch of coop missions. I didn't know anyone else at the time with a PSP let alone with the game so sadly they are unplayed for me.

        Recently I've played Triangle Strategy and thoroughly enjoyed it. But that is a solo experience haha
