Workmanship Warranty on Split Systems from VEU

I am looking to install Mitsubishi Electric Split Systems using VEU rebates. One company had the most competitive quote, but there was no info about a workmanship or installation warranty anywhere (the systems themselves definitely have warranties). The person I have been texting says they DO have a 5 year workmanship warranty, and linked me to this: https://www.vba.vic.gov.au/consumers/home-renovation-essentiā€¦

I thought it didn't quite make sense, so I asked them to clarify. This is what they said:

"The link I previously sent was from the VBA Authority, which is a government portal. This program runs under a government initiative, ensuring that all technicians are certified for plumbing and electrical work. They provide certificates for the work completed, and these certificates guarantee your five-year workmanship warranty.

You will receive all the necessary documents after the installation is complete and once the full payment has been made."

Are they bullshitting me? I called the VBA and the guy seemed in a rush and I couldn't quite understand - but they did say the accredited installers will give me a compliance certificate for the plumbing (which I assume is all the pipes and stuff they will put throughout the house). Would the electrical work be covered too? Is this all just too much hard work?
Unfortunately the other quotes are quite a bit higher, by 1.5-2k - so it would be great if I could go with this company.

Let me know what y'all think.

  • If less than $16K DBI (insurance for workmanship) will come from the builder. If more than $16K, it is logged with the VMIA and thus warranty continues even if the business goes bankrupt.

The compliance certificate for works undertaken by a practitioner guarantees the workmanship for a period of 6 years.

  • You'll get a certificate for the refrigeration work and one for the electrical work. Mitsubishi Electric are a great unit.
