S&S doesn't go into cart to apply mars bar free code?

      • +2

Add the item to your cart without subscribe and save. Then click 'Save 10% now with Subscribe & Save' in your cart and apply it. Then go to checkout and add the coupon.

        • Thanks, didn't know you could do this. I tried it with the 1kg Smooth and it didn't work, probably not an eligible product for mars promo

Edit: it's on the eligible items but not working for me, I get an error promotion can't be applied to your purchase. Weird.

          • @cook99: Hmm yeah it's not working for me either, I tried beans and ground, despite the fact it is supposed to be in the list. Maybe that promo has finished now.

            • @hamza23: But I really feel like a mars bar now

              • @cook99: I take that back, it does work! I forgot that the Mars Bar wasn't in my cart anymore.

                • @hamza23: Hmm odd, it's in my cart, but I only just activated that offer, maybe it takes some time to work..

@cook99: Yeah some users mentioned that it took a while to activate. Eg.

                    • @hamza23: Thank you, I'll switch from refreshing PS5 pages to this deal activation.

    • Perfect reward for that thing I did.

  • Any coffee pro & nerd comment on this vs aldi one?

    • +4

I'm not a coffee pro/nerd but, have had and made plenty over ~20yrs. Simple thought: try a bag or 2 of each, they are so cheap in scheme of things, and you may find a bean & roast that better matches your palette than current supply.

IME, I've found the aldi beans (medium or dark roast, and the purple luxe) are really hard to beat for a combination of convenience, cheap, repeatability with grind timing & size, and delivers a taste good enough to meet my requirements. Usually rummage to find a bag with roast date between 2-4 weeks. I found that result is harder to achieve with the Harris beans (through supermarket or amzn).

Yes, there are definitely better beans on the market and plenty of better home / pro baristas, but the Aldi beans consistently hit the mark for us.

(Apologies, buggered the edit - intended also to say that it depends considerably on what style of coffee you prefer. EG: ristretto & espresso, machiattos, moderate to very milky coffees; filter or percolated, cold-brew etc). In my experience, moderate to very milky based coffees will mask much or all of the flavour profile variances you find in many of the low-cost beans. Ristretto and espresso drinks are very intolerant to poor beans (and equally intolerant to poorly calibrated grind & extraction shot/pour)

      • Absolutely agree with each and every sentiment here. Aldi does the job. Can spend more, absolutely, but yeah, diminishing returns. It's just so damn consistent, especially when it comes to dialling in your grinder.

I'm with xwx. The Aldi Purple Lux have bean a great fallback for me since the recent Coffee price hikes. Nicer flavour over the others (less ashtray)..

I find this way better than Aldi, I'm a mini coffee nerd but refuse to spend $33 like so many others do on the frequent Ozbargain deals, $17 for this is perfect for me.

      • I tried the ALDI coffee. I reckon it's made by Vittoria

      • $33/kg is still insanely cheap - for specialty coffee beans a lot of us are spending that much on 250g bags..

        • Maybe insanely cheap for specialty, but still overpriced for my tastes. I enjoy it and think it tastes great, but not twice as good. And at that price I'm getting close enough to just go to my local coffee shop instead

      • Do you mean Lime Blue?

        • I meant the Aiirjo or whatever they are called.

These are my go to bean through Delonghi machines. Dark at work, Strong at home. They are great value for money and have help consistency for over a year of my subscription.

The value is exceptional, you really get your money's worth with this brand. Whether you're an occasional coffee drinker or a daily enthusiast, I highly recommend giving Harris Strong a try. You won’t be disappointed.
