Looking to Buy a Starter Gaming PC

Hi everyone, I'm looking to buy a starter gaming PC nothing too extreme.

The games I'm interested in playing include the Dark Souls variety like Elden Ring, Sekiro, Armored Core 6 as well as some action RPGs like Diablo 4 and the Witcher 3. I also play some not as CPU heavy games like Terraria, Hades and Darkest Dungeon.

My budget is give or take around $1000. I don't really know much about PCs so would definitely prefer to buy a prebuilt one rather than buy all the parts separately and set it up myself. Are there any good deals for gaming PCs at the moment or will there be any upcoming dates where good deals will start dropping like black Friday/Boxing Day?

Ryzen 5 5600 + RTX 4060 deal from TechFast for around $800 delivered would be good enough for those Souls titles on 1080P medium settings. Need to source your own operating system.

    • The website says it comes with linux mint installed, will I still need to source my own operating system? There's also an upgrade option for Microsoft Windows 11 Home Edition which costs an additional $169, would you recommend that over the pre-installed linux mint system?

      • Personally I would probably install a different Linux system, but if your main purpose is gaming, you might need to be familiar with setting up a Linux system as a gaming PC, and checking your games' Linux support in ProtonDB.

Otherwise you might want to consider paying more to get Windows. TechFast and other PC builders are selling OEM version of Windows 11, but ozbargainers here might tell you other sources to find cheaper licenses.

      • If you don't already know how, definitely worth paying for the Windows install and saving yourself the headache.

      • Windows activation scripts.

Thanks, it's caught my interest. Was just wondering will there be any upcoming good deals now that the end of 2024 is approaching. Dates like black Friday, Christmas, boxing day will they offer even better deals than this one? This purchase will be pretty long term for me so looking to make the most bang for the buck.

  • I've bought a 12400f+4060 system from Tech Fast several months ago and have been rocking Diablo 4, Witcher 2 etc. in 4k Lmao.. Although the fps wasn't good at all but I personally cannot notice much about it. So just pick any of those recommended system you should be good to go :)
