I loved the Z623. Only ever used it as PC speakers but damn they were nice.

They're not great as TV speakers, you're constantly adjusting the bass knob or an action scene in a movie might break a window… But for music, they were amazing. Wish they were still <$100 like the good old days

    • I'm still using mine that I bought for ~$130 in 2012.. They still sound amazing!

FYI you don't need the price history links in your description as the products are tagged which shows the same thing

I have a similar model and the wireless subwoofer drives me crazy because it constantly disconnects… and there's really very little benefit to the subwoofer being wireless in the first place…

    • Little benefit? I have my Q970A behind my couch, out of site, and where it produces the best sound profile (no peaks or troughs across the frequency range, having done a sub crawl whilst playing a frequency sweep). Maybe once a quarter I need to power cycle the sub to get rid of crackle. If you want wires, buy a traditional surround sound system.

So.. in effect nowhere near where you're sitting? :P

I have the Samsung Q930C with no such issues. Very impressed with mine.

      • Do you have audio sync issues?
I have a Q930C, TCL C845, and a Panasonic UB450 - it seems that half the time I need to add a 150ms audio delay to sync the picture… I think Dolby Atmos content is fine, whereas Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD needs the delay. Pretty sure everything is set to eARC, and there was no difference with plugging the player into the soundbar vs into the TV directly.

        • I also use TCL c845. Watch my content through firecube. Mostly plex through kodi. There is a bug for audio delay with truehd and dtshd with firecube. Fixed with a line of code in advanced settings

        • I have a Q930D plugged into a Samsung S90C and the TV had a similar audio delay set by default fwiw

I had the same issue on my Q930D and after some digging on Reddit I concluded it was due to 5GHz Wi-Fi interference. I was able to reduce it 90% by switching my 5GHz channel from auto to 48, and channel width from 20/40/80/160MHz to 160MHz. One of my bosses found his similar issues were fixed by moving his AP far away from the soundbar.

I do really wish they gave the option to run wires though.

  • Anyone own/ have an opinion on the Samsung S801D?

I suspect these tiny speakers are very limited, but also don't think I could find any better for $429.

I think $400 mark puts it in the realm of B or C series

  • I have the B version of these….SUPERB!

  • Tempted but I've found in the past that Costco prices may initially drop first compared to other retailers but when the others do eventually drop, their prices are better than Costco.

This seems worth it to pay the $65 membership fee for the Q930D?

    • +1

You can cancel and have your membership refunded after.

      • Even if you buy stuff?

      • Yeah wow, this seems like a really good price!

Has anyone got any first hand experience with this model?

  • Ive just read this : "All soundbars have 40ms~ delay on Dolby audio"… on reddit so not sure if this spundbars or just samsung.

Insane price for such a good soundbar. I got the previous model 930C for my bedroom last year and the sound quality was bloody awesome.

  • Anybody switched on with technology here know how this compares to the Samsung HW-MS650 soundbar and SWA-700 subwoofer combo?
    Thanks

Slightly off topic - I have a 990C is there any better way to plug the HDMI in underneath the bar? It really seems like it's way too stiff for my liking. Should I be using a 90 degree cable?

    • I had the same thought. It's a very unpractical little space and angle they have for these cables. If you get any HDMI cable that's high-end, they're gonna be thicc. 😂 Not to mention shielded cables. I didn't know you got 90 degree HDMI cables, if you can find one that would probably work a treat. I've got mine plugged in and smoothed out as best I can. Not happy with it, but didn't see much alternative.

      • Apparently there is high spec but thin cables, might give one a try as I really don't like how it is now for the reasons you've said. Feels like its going to ruin the HDMI port in no time under the pressure.

  • Question is should I wait or is it worth it for getting the Costco membership?

  • +3

Thanks op. My local good guys was willing to price match then used their $30 weekend voucher to bring it down to $740

    • That is a very good idea - but it's out of stock at Costco now, TGG might not match that :(

  • 930D OOS, any review of S801D.

had a Q930B for a while now, wireless sub and satillites are handy and connectivity with samsung TV and app is good, but midrange is bad and listening to music is not really enjoyable (my edifier R2750dBs have waay more midrange - much bigger woofers I guess) and laughable they get the Dolby ATMOS badge. If I could add some bigger bookshelves up front it would be awesome though.
