Catch.com.au Ray-Ban Sale - Authentic?

Catch currently have a sale on Ray-Ban sunglasses. The prices seem significantly lower than retail.

I have this vague recollection from comments on deals here that there are Ray-Bans and then there are Ray-Bans - like some are made in Italy and some are made in China, and there are reasonably quality (and pricing) differences.

Am I completely making this up or is this a thing? This otherwise seems like a decent deal if you're in the market.

I didn't even know they were made in China, all of mine were from Italy. So if it says, made in Italy, it should be authentic.

    • Yeh sorry I meant to add, Catch doesn't list the country of origin.

I was under the impression they were all made in Italy as well but there are just so many fakes and the pricing here seems like such a huge departure from what I see in retail at the moment so I'm just suspicious.

      • Some of the products state the country of origin. Although I know Rayban genuine prescription lenses are made in China. LOL

      • I think the split will be between models and I'd be willing to bet the 'Made in Italy' are assembled in Italy from Chinese made parts.

  • They're not even that cheap if you look at past deals on here. They mostly get sent from china these days as thats where the conglomerate conglomerates (luxxotica)

Not that cheap. If you're not in a rush you can get a better deal direct from Sunglass Hut which is owned by Luxottica which owns Ray Ban. Just wait for a sale/cashback stack.

    • The current retail price from Sunglass Hut is much higher for most models, at least from a quick glance online at their current pricing. Even their sale pricing, at least for aviators, doesn't seem this good, but maybe I just haven't seen the right sales.

  • It’s the polarised versions that are dearer in price. The prices on catch seem pretty standard.
