Has been cheaper before, but cheapest for a little while. Great headphones.

    Which part is different?

    On Audio Tecnica website, driver 45mm, impedance 38 ohm, frequency range all listed as identical for the two models

      You could be right actually, the older ATH-M50 (non-X) had 50mm drivers when I brought it though. The entire range might've been downgraded??

        45mm driver with newer technology might be equal or better than 50mm with older? The M50 is very old. Even the M50X has been around several years

          @seb: Yeah possibly, don't like how they use the same model numbers though.

          Edit: Looked it up and honestly apparently driver size isn't much of a big deal. Either 45 or 50mm is very similar, it's the other specs that matter. (Frequency range and dB)

    Agreed, it's very misleading. That said, 45mm is pretty decent still… But given the product number I even expected the same drivers before I checked.

      I don't know you'd have to ask. Sometimes if you go into Goodguys store and say I can this for $X with GGCommercial will you match it they do. But not all stores will do it. If you try - ask a salesman and not the checkout desk.

          @Dyl: We are members of Union shopper which gives registration for GGC, and I know when you ask for pricing Union shopper includes checking pricing through JB hifi as well. But the equivalent of GGC is JB HiFi Business.
