Solid malt, good ABV. Incredibly cheap for a PX whisky in today's market. Would buy a case as a daily dram if I hadn't dropped over 10k in two days on watches and clothes and sneakers. I need less expensive hobbies.

      • Buying clothing is a hobby? Surely just collecting things.

Edit - a quick google on "hobby" - 'an activity done regularly in one's leisure time for pleasure'

I guess the hobby is shopping. Yep shopping is an expensive hobby.

        • supposedly “experiences” is the new thing and sometimes shopping be be on of those prefferably pleasant.

  • That's a lot of people…

  • Indri is awesome ..never heard of this ..sounds dubious.. anyone ever tried it ? Add a St to to this name and it will sound like Vatican approved made in good old Mexico where the chills come after the ice melts ..

Amrut is the OG Indian whisky first available in Australia and is one of my favourite distilleries, I have no problem paying over a grand for a Greedy Angels.

Then Paul John came along and it wasn't that great and there weren't many expressions on offer. But the quality and range has improved greatly over the past decade. The Xmas one and the select oloroso and px bottled at 48% abv are very good when on sale under $100.

  • Got the classic on discount recently and was pleasantly surprised so looking forward to trying this one thanks OP.

  • Oos?

    • Nope, just ordered one.

Why is single malt considered better than two or more molts?

    • +1

Single malts are made from malted barley at one distillery so allows you to taste the characteristics of that distillery. Most blended whisky contains large percentages of cheap grain whisky, which many people do not enjoy as much as malt whisky. There are blends, which are malt blends so contain 100% single malts from different distilleries and also blends that contain high quality grain whisky, so blends aren't always inferior. Taste is subjective so you may be lucky to prefer the taste of a cheap blend whisky and no one can tell you you're wrong, so I'd recommend trying different single malts and different blends and experience the variety out there, rather than trying to find one whisky you think is "best".

  • Paul John is a good spirit.(Especially Nirvana series)
    I would rank it in-between
    Indrii and Rampur whisky

  • Also just ordered Glenfiddich 18 for under $70 from amazon. Shows as 54 plus 15 delivery. Looks cheap.

Just check that it’s not the 200ml bottle, it’s caught a lot of people out.

      • Ooops, cancelled. Sorry 😞

    that's a multicultural drink

  • apparently india is a large consumer of whisky, and with the climate should get the aged flavour quicker like starward do vs scotland with a colder climate so need more years in barrel. Not sure if indian whisky quality is more volume for domestic consumption or also for export as i haven’t seen any win awards at the bigger international wine or spirit shows.

  • What'd everyone think of this?

Wouldn't buy it again myself, not a fan of the finish and found the classic cask a lot nicer drop.
