      My partner and I did exactly this. Took one each of these around the world, checking it when it was heavy and carry on for short trips.
      YMMV, but I always found that you can pull the straps tight to pull the top down and make it look carry on size.
      No one every questioned us about it.
      Best pack I've ever owned and still my go to for hikes and trips.

      I'm also on the hunt for the ideal bag for carry-on travel. Especially after destroying my back backpacking with a 40L Kathmandu Shuttle bag I bought years ago with zero supports. I keep getting led back to the Osprey Farpoint everytime I look into it, but I'm not sure if it's the best value (this is OzBargain after all lol). Keen to hear from people who've found their ideal bag!

      Nah it has. One side zipper and the other side in another pocket.

      The larger sizes open up like clams.

    Thanks bought one for me and my partner.

    Been looking for a couple-day pack and these seem to be pretty good for that.

    Good reviews - people saying they are a work horse and more 'entry-level' then the more expensive ones.

    A side pocket and $200 is a decent price for an Ospry backpack.
