Awesome price already have way too many monitors, wife will kill me! 😂💸👩‍💼

      Username checks out.

Temptation for wife or monitor ?

  • Would this be any good mounted vertically? Or the curve makes it weird?

    • I tried 27” vertical mount, reverted it back immediately.

      • +1

27" is a great size for vertical. Not as a primary monitor, but as a secondary one it's great.

I rock a 34" 4k ultrawide as my primary monitor, and a vertical 27" 1440p off to the side.

For productivity, I've got the 34" split in two, one side 1920 wide, the other side 1520, then the 27" vertical monitor is split horizontally.

That ends up giving me four workspaces, one 1920x1440, one 1520x1440, and two 1440x1280.

        • Hey kapone,

I have exactly the same setup of monitors as you i.e. 34" ultrawide horizontal and 27" vertical on the side and was wondering how are you able to do the split? Is the option in Windows itself or a separate app? Its an amazing idea so would love to get more info.

          Cheers.

@johnnybravo: Either FancyZones in MS PowerToys or if you have Dell monitors, you could use the Dell display manager

            • +1

@bopter12: Both of them are Dells and I do have the Display Manager; never realised I could use the app like that to create zones of different resolutions in the same monitor. I will test it out once I get home. Thanks a lot for that.

        • I'd love to see some pics!!!!

    • +4

I'd say the length makes it weird

    • The window size ends up being awkwardly small when squished to the vertical size of width

    • It would look disgusting

  • +11

Is the warranty 3 months or 3 minutes

    • +4

      handled by 3M

      • what is the difference?

      • +1

With no stand, 3M handling might be handy.

        • I had assumed you get some 3M tape to put it up on a wall.. 🤷‍♂️

  • +9

    Unfortunately, only 60Hz

    • +13

      Obligatory comment "60Hz in 2024 ??!!"

      • +4

        It’s enough

      • Well technically the monitor is nearly 10 years old 😆 last 2 digits for Dell monitors (most if not all the time) represents the year. So U3415 = 2015 model.

  • how many do you have?

  • how old are these in terms of manufacture year and how are they in resolution compared to a recent ultrawide non curve LG monitor that i have and am looking to move to a curved monitor ?

    • +4

The last two digits in the Dell model number signify year U3415W, - “15”, so it’s a 2015 model.

    • +1

I got one a few deals back and it was manufactured in september 2018.

  • manufactured in which year?

    • +8

2014 going by prevous deal comments

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/15695153/redir

      • thx

      • +1

Mine from the previous deal was 2018 - seems like it's just down to luck.

      • Just received mine from that store and its July 2018 manufacture date

        • Mine was unfortunately from Oct 2015.

          • @Dejy: But mine was from UN Tech and I paid $219 + Delivery.

  • Will this work fine for a dual setup with a 32" 4k?

    • 34” height is same as 27” monitors. Don’t think it will go well with 32”. Also diff resolutions

      • Yeah would be weird side by side, right? Ok thanks pass

    • +1

I use a 34" ultrawide (3440x1440) side by side with a 32" 4K. They obviously don't match in ppi / size, but I have no issues with it.

I use the ultrawide as my main monitor, with the 4k next to it and closer to me - which probably reduces the jarring nature of the change in ppi.

I personally find it great to have different aspect ratios (and monitor distance), which I tend to prefer doing different things on.

YMMV - really just depends how you like to work / use your setup flexibly. If you want your monitors to seemlessly match / connect visually, then obviously it would be a bad choice!

    • PPI differences would do terrible things.

    • +1

I stacked two of these from the last deal, and then added my 28" 4K monitor. I do most of my work on the 2 x 34" curved, and with fancyzones, I keep Outlook, Slack and WhatsApp on the smaller (but higher res) monitor. It's working better than expected and I'm not looking forward to going in to the office next month.

      • stack up and down or sides? but my thinkpad dock only able to project 2 monitors max….
what hub do you have able to 3 ?

        • +1

I was using a Surface Pro, but I moved everything to my desktop with an old but capable GeForce 1660 Super card. I don't do gaming, just lots of spreadsheets.

          • @tmonkey: cool i use 2 externals only now (as the hub maxed out at 2) plus the work laptop 14" screen for team chat only

      • How did you stack?

  • $44 shipping to Sydney

    • +5

Are they shipping it on a pallet lol

      • Not for only $44

      • +2

No they’re shipping it from Pallet Town.

        • Ash? Is that you?

    • +2

not sure what you are smokin' but GST is included in the $199 price. GST is $18.09 and clearly labeled in Checkout. Order total is $199

      • +1

lol, so the smoke is really working:)

    • +2

      Yes it is

      Cart Subtotal $199.00
      Shipping Not yet calculated
      GST $18.09
      Order Total $199.00

Pulling out all the gotchas they are

        • -4

omg God forbid a business won't lose money to appease a person living in a NT Cave

          cry about it

          • +16

@The Milk Man: Think the issue is that it says “Free Shipping” right next to the price, on the item page. You’d be forgiven for assuming you’re gonna get free shipping!

    • +6

Have to agree to this. It's quite misleading that it advertises free shipping next to the product but it's ineligible.
Begging to alert that it's impossible to get free shipping.

      • +2

        *Negging

      • +1

Yeah got to agree. Somewhat of a deal with free shipping - no deal otherwise.

    • +3

@BPC Technology are you going to respond to this?

  • Anyone know what stands or mounts work with these? Vesa?

    • Vesa works fine

  • +2

This thing is almost 10 years old, release 2015

    • +1

      Yes. my concern also

    • I’ve owned since new - excellent for text. Suffers from IPS BLB as most widescreen do. No matter the claims , buy a colorimeter and calibrate.

      • Sure spend more money for it than this monitor

        • All monitors need calibrating.

      • What colorimeter would you recommend? Been meaning to do it for my dual 27 Ultrasharps

        • I have cheapest x-brite, I think it’s now called “Calibrite CCDIS ColorChecker Display”.

    • Yeah better off getting the latest ultra wide nano oled whizzbang model for $1300.

    • Model is 10 years old but mine was manufactured in September 2018. Hopefully it also sat in an office doing nothing for 2 years during covid.

    • Im still using a dell U2410 from 2009-10, still going strong (mostly)

  • does it support video input via usbc?

  • +5

I'd rather spend extra $100 for MSI 34" UltraWide curve w 3Yr warranty

  • Hi, would this be a good monitor for my wife to use for work and also act as a screen to watch tv shows and movies?

Her desk is pretty small so we can't fit 2 monitors. Hoping this could solve her one requirement (more screen real estate)

    • Yes, these are great for work
      Works fine for movies

    • LCD panels typically have contrast of 1100:1 - pretty bad compared to old CRT TVs.

  • -1

I guess this is for locals only.
    $40 startrack to Gold coast
    $49 Aus post

    • Why the neg? The title literally says "+ Del".

      • Because, imo, the delivery charge is exorbitant to the point it's no longer a bargain.

      • +2

On the product page it also says "free shipping" bolded in nice green colour but it's actually excluded.

        • the cheapest/worst shipping option is $31, plus it does not specify the quality class of refurbishment, with a 10 year old screen it has to be grade a no defects otherwise wouldn't touch it.

Also question I'd be asking here (based on experience) is whether they now taking the time to fully test the products before selling especially for dead/stuck pixels and faults with the hubs and connectors.
